Trying to give a serious answer I know Nintendo to be brand that reaches out to a younger audience as opposed to Sony and Microsoft. So I can't imagine Nintendo even wanting the IP. And on a personal note after playing the alpha I don't believe there's anyway the control scheme would work with wii u controllers

Wii =\= Wii U. The Wii U uses a standard controller that looks like a tablet. Nothing toounfamiliar.
