Sony has added prices to the beta for their PlayStation Now streaming service, and though these are experimental numbers—it's a beta, after all—the current prices are insane.
What's more, as of right now, PS Now beta testers actually have to pay to play games. If I want to test out the service, I have to dish out crazy amounts of cash....
.....There's a little note on the bottom of PlayStation Now that reads: "Game titles and features shown are for testing purposes only. Not indicative of the final price." But anyone who's in the beta right now has to pay these prices. I just tried to rent Deus Ex: Human Revolution and had to pay $4.99 for four hours of the privilege.
And it looks like prices like this could be here to stay. From the PS Now FAQ: "The upcoming Open Beta will test multiple pricing tiers and rental durations. You will see shorter rental periods prices as low as $2.99 and most titles are between that and $19.99. More information to be announced later...."
Granted, these prices are [probably] scheduled to change. Seems pretty high. What are your thoughts on PSNow and experience with the service? (assuming you're in the beta)

-
...you have to pay...to beta test...what the hell? Are they trying to make this fail?
-
Ha Xbox gets beta as a gift not as a game DOUCH BAG IS HERE FAN BOY SHALL RAIN HIS HATE
-
It's because Sony are actually terrible. They've done a good job of hiding it thus far but the mask must be slipping.
-
Sony you fuck ups what are you doing?
-
$€N¥ $TRIK£$ AGAIN
-
>Paying for a beta lol
-
They charged final fantasy 13-2 for 90 days is $29.99 big ripoff because it's $19.99 on the PS Store and it's actually a really shitty game the whole final fantasy 13 saga is shit and I'm surprised that people actually enjoy the dull story, and characters and the main character wants to be a mascot which is bullshit.
-
They couldn't just emulate a PS3?

Edited by Frank Woods: 6/23/2014 1:23:03 AMRIP anyone who wants to stream a fallout game. I'm not even a serious fan of the series and I put in a solid 140 hours on Fallout 3.

$4.99 for four hours. What can you do in a game in four hours. Maybe the first 2 chapters or so. Who the hell would ever rent a game for 4 hours. Hell, you can buy a game at Gamestop and you have seven days to decide if you like it & you can bring it back if for a full refund.
-
And this is why I'll just buy a PS3 to play the games I missed last generation.
-
Wtf? Beta testing should be cheaper than the actual product. My brother got in the private beta and the games were free. Quality was shit but still.
-
I don't rent games; I buy them. I don't get why anyone would want to rent games anyway. Just buy them.
-
The only game that matters on PSNow is
free
-
Looks like Microsoft isn't the only console company messing up this Generation of Gaming. Lol
-
I totally agree I saw tht the other night and jst deleted the beta.

pff. I can rent AAA games from Redbox for $1 a day. I paid a shocking $7 to experience Skyrim, Final Fantasy 13, and Deus Ex: Human Revolution.
-
its hilarious how much they ragged on Microsoft last year for not letting you play games you bought, then do this.
-
Remember when the Sony fanboys swore they would never pay for PSN?
-
It's easy really, no one use the horrible overpriced service then they'll make changes. *sips tea*

Edited by Random: 6/22/2014 5:48:42 AMWhoever signed off on this needs a good slap. 5 bucks for LAST GEN games for 4 hours? Your average laptop could run most of those games, and you could probably buy half of them for under $10 right now on steam.
-
To bad it will never be useful to me because of a 250GB limit per month.

Here's a theory I have about Sonys strategy. As we know the company is failing. They just can't make a good profit. And since Playstation is their most successful product line- and probably one of the most expensive to upkeep they just decided to go with a plan to make tons of money and save money. First with the PlaystationNow prices as we know being quite overpriced, then the plan of cutting down first party exclusives and replacing them with indies, and also erasing Vita from existence. This would make them a lot of money and save a lot as well.

Yeah, that shit is ridiculous. They need to change that.
