Destiny sniper rifles have no bullet drop. You can snipe a headshot easily from a mile away. I think including bullet drop in guns increases the need for more skill based shots and increases the competitive gameplay as well as realism. Also, it will force diversity in the types of guns and will force the user to think a little harder on which guns to use.
One can argue that sniper rifle ammunition is few and difficult to find. Additionally, combining low ammunition with bullet drop may make it too hard too snipe or even utilize the sniper rifle.
What do you think?

Bump, this may be a good idea. Make them aim a little higher like in real life when its a far shot.
-
Clearly you have never played Halo.
-
If I wanted realistic sniping I wouldn't be playing a 'mystical sci-fi' game.
-
Want bullet drop? Buy this game called battlefield 4.
-
Maps in arena shooters aren't big enough to worry about bullet drop. If you want to play pretend soldier, I don't think Destiny is gonna be your bag.

They need to add flinch... I have a guy spraying me with a full auto and headshot him with no problem..

I'd be fine with bullet drop, but I thought the Sniper was incredibly balanced in the Alpha. Between the "tunnel vision" that players experienced with the scope which eliminated your radar, noises, and peripherals, and the targeting laser that warned players far away that they were being targeted and also pointed out where the sniper was, and the general lack of ammo, snipers never felt terribly out of control or unpredictable. Great conveyance on Bungie's part.

Edited by Godchild: 6/20/2014 3:22:08 AMI am saying do not include bullet drop on sniper rifles. They are high powered rifles meant for long range and so far from what I saw of the game thanks to the alpha players recording. We don't have entire maps in which bullet drop is needed if ever. Sure we have some open maps but still not even close to the range bullets should effect these weapons. Not to mention this is in the future and they could have easily developed ways to further increase the firing power of weapons so they all fire at the speeds of a .50 cal but from the size of a .22 rounds.
-
From my experience so far they seem fine. Though I'm not sure about that exotic one that is supposed to cloak you. We'll see. Sounds like that could make for some fun experiments.

I like the arcade elements of first person shooters. Keep fantasy-like elements in video games and keep realism in real life, I say. I also dont think having things like bullet-drop etc = more skilled play, or however you put it. It takes just as much skill to line up a shot and shoot perfectly than it does trying to account for where a bullet is going to go, imo.

Every Bungie game has no bullet drop. Guess all that high tec armor their Heros wear auto corrects for it? Lol whatever the games are still a blast!
-
With the many different environments it would be difficult. Based on what I've seen and a little of what I've heard the gravity will vary from planet to planet meaning they'd need different drop levels for not only every weapon but every weapon on every planet. That could be doable for maybe treo or even three planets and moons bit from what I understand there will be far more than that in the game.

I would really love bullet drop cause im a battlefield player. I think its a lot better once u get used to it.

Maps aren't nearly big enough for bullet drop to be signifigant
-
The future doesn't have bullet drop.
-
thorn is underpowered which sucks but snipers need to be a bit weaker
-
Nope. I don't want bullet drop. It would make snipers less fun to use.
-
This isn't Battlefield.
-
I loved the way the sniper worked in the Alpha, so don't change it.
-
I agree. But I would like to change the terminology. I would like it better if gun ranges were more accurate. I could use my scout rifle from sniper range and pull off head shots easily. I hope they address this before launch.

This isnt a sim. There is no realism whatsoever. Its a sci fi fps from Bungie. No. /thread
