We should totally spend billions of dollars on a pointless sport while neglecting the hundreds of millions of people who are suffering.
Why is selfishness such a rampant disease in society? Human greed can easily be eradicated with intelligence and compassion. People have way more than they need, and we easily have enough in this world to ensure that everyone is housed and has water and food. The very basic needs to even survive.

I've refrained from posting in this thread because it's a comflict of two large interests of mine. Saying sports are for "Rich men" is blatantly wrong and immature. More people play or watch soccer than believe in Islam. The World Cup is a globally unifying event, and people should be excited to watch it. Even as someone who doesn't follow the sport, I'm excited for it. That being said, it should not have been held in Brazil. They don't have the financial infrastructure to handle FIFA's demands, and their obvious abuses they've laid on their citizens are horrific. The silver lining to the situation is that the Brazillian government was exposed on a global scale, due to the immensity of the World Cup. Since people in almost every nation watch the cup, the government can't hide what they've done. While they've evicted thousands of people, and taken millions of dollars, international support for the victims can build.
