Why Playstation TV may fail.
The article is from Motley Fool, so take with a grain of salt, but it's surprisingly well written and looks at a different angle than most people have probably thought about.

Well you can play a whole mess of PS1,2,3 and your PS4 on it can't you? Isn't that reason enough to get one?

1 ReplyIt will fail as long as it's an add on to the PS4. Sure, if you own a PS4 it makes some sense of you're in the market for a set top box. If you don't own a PS4 you won't buy one. What would you do? Play Vita games for it?

6 RepliesI've used my One to watch TV like twice. Whether it be on the One or PS4 I doubt many will use it regularly seeing they bought the consoles to play games.

It's a silly gimmick, it's a nice idea in theory but it's just not going to be a big thing by any means. I don't care about it at all, I'm happy with the PS4.

3 RepliesThe PSTV doesn't actually allow you to watch TV, people. It's basically a way to play Vita games on your TV + stream media-- an Roku box that plays much better games. Based on the hype this thing had when first announced, I'm surprised it didn't do better in Japan. They didn't even have plans to bring it to the States, so I wonder what made them change their minds; it's not like the OUYA has proven there's a market for microconsoles, or that the Vita has been a huge success. Since this is basically a streaming box, it seems like it wouldve been smarter to release it alongside some PlayStation programming and PS Now. Until then, it's not really good enough for gamers or... Netflix watchers.

My main deal with Pstv is that it doesn't appeal to me much. It's just one of those eh whatever deals.
