Edited by Lord of Admirals: 6/17/2014 3:24:29 AMPlasma weapons work by shaping the plasma in an electromagnetic field to keep it stable, ensuring it doesn't sputter out before reaching its target. In theory, they could make their guns shoot any shape of plasma they want if they can create a magnetic field in that shape. Imagine: a Plasma Rifle shooting blue dildos of death...

Edited by Indominus: 6/17/2014 3:36:52 AMhmm, interesting. Do they have triggers similar or identical to our guns *looking at the guns in my Halo encyclopedia as I'm typing* Edit: I do happen to see triggers for the fuel rod cannons and the spiker but not for the rest of the covenant weaponry.
-
Fuel Rod Gun trigger does not work anyway. Covenant weaponry use pressure pads. So to fire the weapon, you squeeze the handle. The Spiker and Brute Shot are exceptions I believe.

For more than ten years of Halo, I never really investigated about how weapons worked. Thank you very much for sharing this information.
-
Yeah, it was info available back on Bungie.old. I don't know if it's ever been specifically stated the plasma weapons use magnetic fields, but the Plasma Torpedoes use it, so I think it's a logical conclusion to make.
-
Yes, they use the magnetic field to direct it. Fun Fact: the Plasma Pistols electromagnetic director is located in the grip

Where's your source for that?
-
Halopedia. It where I learned basically everything about Halo. And no, not Halo Nation, that one is as inaccurate as crap
-
Halopedia is a second hand source. It's technically non-canon.

They list ALL of the sources at the bottom. If something may be non-canon or just speculation, they put a warning at the top of the paragraph
