While inbreeding was certainly an issue with such few numbers, the San 'Shyuum meticulously checked which individuals had good or bad genes. This resulted in a list of individuals who could breed and those who couldn't.
While the San 'Shyuum have gone into hiding, they are an enduring race. I doubt we've see the last of them.

I'm sure we'll see them again, but I doubt they could last more than a couple of generations with their current numbers. There should be far too few of them now to sustain a population, even with the meticulous breeding programmes that they use.
