Oh. I was unaware that the Domain had an actual physical presence. Neat.

 • Yup. It's often regarded that the Forerunners won their war with the Flood despite eradicating all life in the galaxy. However, the Flood got the last laugh by revealing that the Forerunners would destroy the Domain. The Librarian actually attempted to tell the IsoDidact not to fire the Array after learning this.

 •
The Librarian actually attempted to tell the IsoDidact not to fire the Array after learning this.
Why would she do this?

 • The Domain was the heart and soul of the Forerunners. All Forerunner history and experiences were stored there. Destroying it would leave the galaxy in the dark about what had transpired. Of course, as she went to tell the IsoDidact this, she was told by the revived Lord of Admirals that it was too late as the pre-echo of the Halo Array was already being felt.

 • I'm so confused. Revived LoA? Isn't that Guilty Spark/Chakas? Pre-echo? What's that? So how do we and the characters of Halo have so much information about the Forerunners if their life was destroyed?

 •
Revived LoA? Isn't that Guilty Spark/Chakas?
It seems the Lord of Admirals was not imprinted on just Chakas. When the Librarian was on Earth, the Gravemind sent down humans with ancient human geas. However, they were severely distorted to look like the geas they were imprinted with.
Pre-echo? What's that?
Halos fire supermassive neutrinos at infinite speeds. Because they travel faster than light, the traces, or echo, of the Array being fired can actually be detected before the Array is fired. Meaning that if the pre-echo is detected, it is absolutely inevitable the Array will be fired.
So how do we and the characters of Halo have so much information about the Forerunners if their life was destroyed?
343 Guilty Spark, Catalog's deceased body, and the Bornstellar-Relation found on Trevelyan. Keep in mind what we know took decades to discovered and is disputed. And even then, we only know an incredibly small fraction about the Forerunners.

 • Nope. Not to our understanding of science at least.

 • To clarify, you're saying that you agree with my statement about it not being scientifically sound?

 • Because it contains the living knowledge of 100 billion years which will be completely destroyed by the Halos.

 • So then how do we know/the characters know anything about the Forerunners' lifestyle and society? Or do they NOT know anything about it?

 • This is why the Forerunner Saga is told through ancient artefacts that ONI has discovered. 343 Guilty Spark states in Halo CEA's second Terminal that all concrete records of Forerunner history have been lost, so we're relying on second-hand information now. Cryptum is told from an artefact known as the Bornstellar Relation, Primordium is told through Chakas' memories when he's recovered by the Rubicon, and Silentium is a series of 'strings' harvested from the corpse of Catalog.
