I'm 60/40 on it. The 40 is because it's been so long since Half Life 2 and even it's 2nd DLC that people are going to be expecting the game to be greater than what it is. Then for the 60 that's because to me Valve hasn't made a bad game. You can dislike their games, but they really haven't made a bad game. Each game in a series improves from the last game and it doesn't remove anything or have retarded changes. Let's take a look at Halo.
The game started off with a decent weapon sandbox then in the 2nd game it became loaded with useless and half weapons. Instead of improving it in the 3rd game and with Reach Bungie kept it the same and kept adding in pointless shit just to have a weapon sandbox. I know Valve doesn't go past 3 in a series besides Counter Strike, but they still haven't fucked up anything in the newer game. Even if the game doesn't meet expectations I think it's safe to say it's going to be an improvement without retarded changes to it.

Edited by InstaSpook: 6/8/2014 8:09:48 PM[Meanwhile, at a Valve conference at E3] [Gabe steps on stage] Gabe: Half Life 3 is coming sometime next year, bye. [Entire crowd goes crazy] My prediction of what will happen at E3.

Edited by The Doctor: 6/9/2014 12:06:13 AMIt's gonna be a great game but people have unrealistic expectations of it. They see half-life 2 as the greatest thing ever due to nostalgia.

Praise Gaben? Praise Gaben.
-
3rd games have always tended to fall short.
-
No because it will never arrive.
-
Everyone will complain like always.
-
The game could be the best game ever but they've left it too long so either way people will be disappointed.
-
Our Glorious God Gabe will alway deliver
-
It will never live up to it's hype
-
Every Valve game sucks IMO...
-
I always found the Half Life games really boring. Despite repeated attempts, I could never finish any of them, I just lost interest. That being said, having no expectations for a game can be a good thing. I went from having zero interest in Titanfall, to loving it once I played it.
-
valve games are truly terrible but just appeal tho the super bet kids just look at TF2
-
Half Life 3 will be the next Duke Nukem Forever.
-
I hope it gets overhyped and doesn't deliver. The tears would be delicious.
-
Please. After all this time there's no way it could live up to the hype.
-
Nope, it's going to turn into another DNF. It's been too long and has too much hype
-
No. It's been over-hyped to the point of insanity, and has now become the running joke on the interwebz.
-
Valve always delivers
-
I'm hoping they can count to three in other franchises too
-
If it ever does come out I don't think it will ever live up to the expectations set for it. That's the price of teasing it for so long even if it was unintentional or if it really was constantly in development. At this point it is practically worth more to continue teasing the idea than to push a release and lose all the attention. While I personally don't care if it ever comes out it's obvious how important it is to people and I hope it does finally get made. I know it will be a great game but I just don't see it living up to the hype
-
I get the impression my hair will start turning grey before it ever comes out. :/
-
Yes. Ive said it 2 times now and ill say it again, if its even slightly close to what 2 and EP's were, im going to like it to death.
-
-
It's going to be hyped to the point of insanity when its announced, so no, nothing they could make would match expectations.
-
I think at this point most people's hype for it has died down so much, they'll probably be content as long as it's at the very least on par with Half Life 2. I'd therefore give it a solid probably.

Everyone talks about HL3, but they forget that HL2 Ep3 still hasn't come out!
