Thoughts on BF4's Latest Patch?

Before I even say anything else, yes I have been playing Battlefield 4, Despite it's many... extensive... absolutely infuriating bugs and gamebreaking issues. I seem to find myself unable to stay away like a moth to an open flame and I continue to rage at how bad this game is despite how much I wish to play it. It's a very vicious cycle. Anyways. DICE just released a new patch for all venues that supposedly makes online multiplayer better. In a nutshell DICE has promised that information from you to other players will travel 60% faster, there will be less packet loss on both ends, and within a certain radius away from you, enemy tick rates will increase. For those of you that don't know what tick rate is: Tick rate is how often information is sent from your PC to the server and updates your position and actions in the server. BF4 has a tick rate of 10 meaning it updates your position 10 times every second. That might seem fast but compared to the competition, it's miserably slow. Counterstrike Online, a game that was released in 2008, has a tick rate of 100. That's 10 times more than Battlefield 4, a game that was made in 2013 with a much better engine, and much better servers. That's sad. Not only that DICE didn't specify how far away enemy players have to be to actually increase tick rates, nor what the increased tick rate actually is. And for those of you unaware of this yet, you need to manually turn on this new feature to take any sort of advantage of it. :/ So what are your thoughts, if any, about this latest patch in DICE's long list of failures for Battlefield 4?
My Thoughts: The patch seems to have done very little for me. If anything, it seems to have made the game worse. Only about a month ago did I finally hit my stride and start to dominate in this game. Now that I finally had a good grasp on it, I feel like I took a step back. I am constantly being killed by the one hit glitch, and a lot of my bullets still seem to disappear into cyberspace. I am getting hit through objects even more now, and I'm lucky to win one-on-one close range gunfights. On top of that, DICE still hasn't fixed the lagging hitbox issues that has been in the netcode since Bad Company 2. With this latest patch, I feel also feel much more constricted. Some servers I used to play I can't even think about anymore because the game is so broken on them. I honestly fail to see how DICE could have made the game worse, but they did.
The game feels snappier, when I shoot someone - they get hit and die. Unless they have a shitty internet connection but that's the case for any game. The downside is, because shots register more easily you are basically more vulnerable to enemy fire - DESPITE now being able to react to the fire and get into cover and start shooting back. This didn't click with me at first and I had many frustrating games of doing bleh compared to my usual standard <.< After discussing it with a few people who spent a while going over the patch, the layman's conclusion is - You are now weaker but do more damage. It's not a big secret that I'm a gigantic shitbucket and a lot of the time I had something bordering on an aura of invincibility, courtesy of the game - not a shitty internet connection. This meant that whoever could accurately land the most shots would win - but it took more shots than it should because of the netcode. So because I can keep the gun on target and basically shoot better than they can, I'd win most fights unless I was against some laggy son of a bitch with a famas. Now the fighting is a little more balanced, against me sadly but it's better for the game all round. I can kill people much more easily, but the same applies to me - I no longer have the shitbucket shield protecting me and giving me that edge in a protracted gunfight, instead I've got more dangerous guns. So provided I don't screw up at all, I'm still going to do fine but mistakes in CQB are now very costly instead of just 'Oh shit' moments. Adapting the mentality while playing is all it took for me to start getting back into the shitbucketry scores. I hope all that makes sense <.< tl;dr - Patch is good, but it does change the way you fight.
