We often hear about video games causing people to behave immorally, even though though there is no evidence of that, but I was curious if the opposite (sort of) is true.
Have you ever been so repulsed by the content of a game that you refused to play it?
Bonus question: what was the game and why did you refuse to play it if you didn't?
-
I'd probably play more Japanese games if they weren't full of creepy borderline sex offender "art styles" if you can call it that.
-
I generally don't care unless it's blatantly embellished with sadism -excluding horror games-
-
-blam!-lay
-
Gore doesn't turn me from a game, the game does.
-
Generally I just power through parts of games that make me uncomfortable because there aren't many. In sleeping dogs there are environment attacks where you use buzz saws and stuff and the gore is a little much especially because you are supposed to be a cop.
-
Some X-rays in Mortal Kombat, namely the ones where joints get reversed, make me cringe everytime I see them.
-
I don't believe video games can affect my morals. Plus I've seen some sick shit on live leak that video games couldn't even compare too.
-
Gears of War made me physically ill when it first launched. I grew up on mainly Nintendo games with little or no dialogue, and then suddenly I was in an environment when it was "kill those -blam!-ers!" this and "always give promotions to the assholes" that, alongside dismemberment and ridiculous chainsaw kills. Fast forward 7 or 8 years and now I'm more offended by how friggen brown/gray the game is more than anything else. Go figure.

I couldn't finish Spec Ops: The Line
-
I don't really enjoy games where you plays a criminal so I don't play GTA or games like that. Manhunt just seems gratuitous and stupid That's really it
-
Nope.
-
I'm not a fan of games where you have to be a criminal. I guess that's also why GTA never really appealed to me.
-
I have... a lot of times actually.
-
Nope. I've never been repulsed by a video game. I doubt I ever will be, really. Unless there was something released that was way too inappropriate and graphic. Very, very graphic. Example: child abuse, -blam!- etc. But, it would be pretty stupid to put that in a video game anyways. :-)
-
I played, but didn't participate. MW2's mowing innocents down in an airport was a bit much for me, so I hung way back and didn't fire a shot. It's bizarre. It's a video game. They're just polygons, and I've never had qualms shooting down humanoid polygons before in any game, but take the weapon out of their hands, multiply them by the dozens, and suddenly I can't even ignore it all and pull the trigger.
-
No. I know someone who returned skyrim when he found out that gay marriage was possible in the game.
-
The only thing I have been repulsed by is the media's constant blame of video games and other media for some disturbed individual's horrific actions. I believe that these people are sick and would have committed these crimes whether they have a game with violent elements a heavy metal/rap album or if they have a violent film in their collection. I would argue that violent video games prevent some crimes not including those people I have mentioned above with mental health problems( They would do it anyway). Sometimes I am sure that we all get angry have thought about harming, killing someone. Rational people would play a violent video game express their anger in a virtual world , fragging zombies marines or playing a few rounds of MP on their favourite FPS. Maybe that's just me but personally I have not been influenced by a video game, movie or music to commit a violent act lol

Lollipop chainsaw was just too horrendous. It was funny, but I'd never actually pay money for it.

Edited by Galahad: 6/6/2014 11:29:16 AMSomething about the Drakengard series gives me the creeps. I prefer not getting close to them. Besides that, nothing really.
-
Edited by HurtfulTurkey: 6/6/2014 3:11:27 AMBioshock Infinite: Burial At Sea had the most disturbing scene of any game I've played. Even Dead Space doesn't compare to a first-person lobotomy.
-
Is it wrong that I'm fine with killing innocent humans in games but snapping a dogs neck that's trying to kill me makes me feel uncomfortable?
lol kidding I love that snapping noise
-
The assassin's creed series and grand theft auto. Dishonored as well.
-
I refuse to play horror games because im a pansy. Does that count?
-
I boycott games with micro transaction and don't buy dlc
-
Halo 5, 343 Industries.
