I was doing some research for the Traveler's Guide (link above) when I realized just how many locations might be in the Destiny universe.
For clarity, I'll divide the places we can go in Destiny into 3 distinct categories: Worlds, Destinations, and Locations.
(examples)
World: Earth
Destination: Old Russia
Location: Devil's Lair
There are currently 5 confirmed worlds in Destiny:
Earth
The Moon
Mars
Venus
Europa
Using the information on Destinypedia and its cited sources I've determined that on Earth there will be at least 5 destinations:
The City (and surrounding area)
Old Russia
Old Chicago
The European Dead-Zone
Mumbai Push
Now then... if we look at the size of Old Russia, we can see at least 10 locations (maybe 12) that we'll be able to explore:
Blind Steppe
Delta South
Devil's Lair
The Divide
Gateway
Graveyard
King's Watch
Moth-Yard
Rocket-Yard
Sky Watch
Keeping these numbers in mind I'll give a conservative estimate: if the 4 other destinations on Earth are half the size of Old Russia (that makes 30) and If all 4 other worlds are half the size of Earth (15 each), then there will be at least 90 specific locations in the game!
(math edited)
At this point my mind was blown.
note:
This estimate does include areas of the city, but I left out places like "The Black Garden and The Twilight gap, because it's unclear if these places are destinations, or locations at this time.

Europa: it’s one of Jupiter’s many moons, and a location you will be visiting in Bungie’s upcoming Destiny. It’s a sight to behold, so enjoy the image above, and prepare to fight on a moon of ice and snow when Destiny is released in the near future!
http://destiny-the-game.com/2013/05/prepare-to-visit-the-one-of-jupiters-moons-in-destiny/
Mars
Barrett: The driving thing here is massive red sand dunes and a buried city.

Venus
Barrett: Venus is similar in that we wanted to create a human city. It’s more of a research outpost than a civilian skyscraper kind of place.
Thanks to those at Destinypedia for compiling these sources!
Edited by joey2164: 5/28/2014 6:51:27 PMPersonally I haven't heard ANYTHING about Europa, but I have heard Saturn mentioned by a Bungie employee in an interview video or Vidoc. Don't ask me which one, but if I happen across it again, I will link it. Edit: Not the video I viewed previously, but seemingly confimation nonetheless: IGN article writes the following. "Bungie art director Christopher Barrett dubbed Destiny a “mythic science fiction” universe and shared a number of locales we can look forward to visiting: the Cosmodome Breach, the ruins on the edge of the European Dead Zone, the swamps of Old Chicago (likely a nod to Bungie’s original home city), derelict fleets floating in the rings of Saturn, the earth Moon’s Hellmouth, the uncharted depths of Reef, giant obsidian pyramid ships, mile-long tomb ships, and much more."
