External soundcards have better audio quality than internal ones because there is little to no interference in an external one. The ODAC + O2 combo probably has the best performance/prize ratio. You should probably get a nice pair of headphones too like a pair of Beyerdynamics DT 880s or if you've got lots of money to burn then get the STAX SR-009 (you need a powerful Amp to drive them though). I'd get a triple monitor setup if I were you. It's great for multitasking. I can watch a video, browse bungie.net, and play a game at the same time. And something that IMO is a must have for a good gaming setup is a good mechanical keyboard. I have a Steelseries 6gv2 with red Cherry MX switches. It's a good cheap ($100) mechanical keyboard. If you've got money to spend and if you like high quality keyboards then get a Korean one like the KMAC 2 (some assembly and additional parts required). Mechanical keyboards are not only more comfortable to type on but you can also customize them with some awesome keycaps!
