The first thing i heard about us was " The Order of the Sun is a more subtle focus built around buffing and protecting allies." and immediately i thought what a complete and utter bullshit undersell of a healing focus which will prove paramount to unlocking and completing the more difficult raid, dungeon, and endgame content in Destiny. Anyone who has put in time with any of the classic mmo's must realize the importance of the healing role during difficult gameplay. Maybe I'm jumping the gun here but I cant be the only one who feels this way can I ? Let me know what you think ,and lets get some more info out there for the warlock guardian healers coming soon to "The Order of the Sun"

Bugie has stated that they have NOT made an MMO. Destiny is a FPS with MMO qualities, the only purpose of the classes' structure is for you to flesh out your play style; do you hang back and take those choice shots, do you drive ahead and leave a wake of destruction for your fireteam to follow? I actually recently changed my main class to Warlock for this reason. Up until the Alpha release I was a huge Hunter fan, after acutually SEEING a Warlock in action it was an easy decision. I have always taken a supportive role when I play, it's what I enjoy doing and I am good at it. I am excited to have the opperunity to play out my style in the Warlock. However, the Hunter also has a supportive capability and I will not abandon my fellow Hunters entirely, it just won't be the first guardian I build.

Edited by Pheint3d: 6/21/2014 8:34:50 PMThere's an argument over is Destiny an mmo or not. Many people argue about the amount of player aspect. For me tho, it's not an mmo for this reason You won't pick a hunter because he's the equivalent of a archer class...or even a sniper class... As a titan...you won't be a tank that's going to solo the raid boss because you have 99999 hp . He will be more durable but not on that kind of level And as a warlock you won't be spamming fire balls and heals or buffs all day due to a huge mana pool. In my opinion that's always been a huge traditional way to play a mmo. And I feel like if a game doesn't have a set up like that I can't call it an mmo in that sense. So that's why I feel like it ain't a mmo. Just that aspect. So instead you got an mmo element. Its like a small degree of the dps tank and Mage class. A very scaled down degree of it So scaled down it wouldn't make sense to even reference them exactly that way. Its different. But with super synergy and team play, the warlock with that focus" might" be able to throw out a few buffs and heals now and then. But it won't. Be like a 10 second cool down or anything like that. That's game breaking for a game like Destiny.

Edited by Cybaras: 5/18/2014 5:37:07 PMThis is coming from someone who plans to make a full defender codex titan and Order of the sun Warlock for this exact reason. If raids are going to be as hard as they say, a tank Titan and a healing Warlock are going to be necessary for every group. Unfortunately, 2/3 of all players are going to be dps including titans and warlocks (happens every time eventually in class-designed rpgs) whether it be main or alt characters. Leaving only 1/3 for tanks and healers and even then there will be bad players and good players. That is what I want to see the most at E3. I want to find out just how exactly the tank role and the healing will work in Destiny so i can start figuring out how to play in this new style. I want to see some players on stage (although probably scripted) get absolutely decimated by a raid boss and then the radiance warlock swoops in and rez them all. Or see a titan drop down a ward of dawn (or void barrier) to stop this devastating attack from killing the entire fireteam. Only then will I say, "Now I know what the game has to offer."

This intrigued me as well when I first heard about it. I'm waiting to see the full potential of this super and it's subclasses.

Don't really need healers, they have regenerating health if you stop getting shot.
-
Well the order of the sun is now called fire singer but its a support focus. I believe it can be upgraded to heal and it has shown it can revive other players. But there are suppose to be more skill trees so don't worry about it there will be a,healer. And also, in mmo's do you know how much stuff you can do to a buff. Buffs stacked on another buff could make you one deadly opponent.

Yes there are sources. MoreConsole has a lot of content and he goes over the class foci and always has source links in the description. I'd love to have a warlock running order of the sun on my fireteam, please tell me you're on the xbox one.

I've been a healer once and will definity give it a go in Destiny as a Warlock. I think it'll play a big time important role in raids. I hope you MUST need a healer in your Fireteam to complete a raid unless you got a really good Titan Tank. I think we'll have like a special power for Warlocks which throws rays of light at our Fireteam, healing them. I wonder if there are more than one power for Warlocks for healing others.

I believe the reason Bungie wants to downplay the warlock as a healer is because you really can't be much of a healer with only potentially two healin skills (super/grenade) and quick kill times with free respawns. IMHO in this situation buffing teammates becomes more important as a sort of protection/buff class. What I mean by this is instead of actively healing your teammates you'll be doing DPS and landing supers that protect your teammates in important situations. Ie it seems that radiance is a team buff that might decrease damage taken by the team, but it was also mentioned it might be an area of effect Rez that could be important to prevent wipes. Also it is my opinion that in the devils lair game vid when the warlock respawns the Titan the Titan has a fully charged super either due to a passive ability of the warlock or a unique item (warlock arm band?). This would combine to make warlocks a very important support class that has the ability to prevent overall party wipe with crucial damage mitigation and group/buffed rezzes. I know if I'm anywhere close to what the warlock actually will be then that's what I'll be playing.

I'll take the order of the void or the other dps focus.
-
Warlocks are the only healers ?
-
I'm going Hunter class because that's more my taste, but I've been a healer role for a long time so in hoping that the Hunter may have a healing based focus or two.
-
*Cough* guild wars 2 *cough*
-
This is why i went hunter because there wasnt much info on support warlocks and looking at the details of this "order of the sun" it seems like there isnt much good use coming from it. If this game is going to be as difficult as bungie makes it seem then healing would be in dire need. I love healing and support its what im good at but i dont see much comming from playing a style like this.
-
Thats why bungie doesnt call it an mmo, stuff like this accompany the title and give the wrong impresion. Your health recharges in 3-4 seconds, you dont need healing just buff [double shield, extra damage etc.]. Maybe it revives anyone in range, that would be super helpful if half the team is down.

Im with you mate.

Is there actually a focus in Destiny like this ? Do you have a source ?
