Yes, I am aware that solar power at the moment does not produce enough energy to meet current demands. But at the very least it and reduce base load consumption for consumers.
At the very least why aren't houses being outfitted with solar panels, why don't we have shaded parking spots at shopping centers with solar panels on top?

Asphalt is cheaper, and I imagine wouldn't break so easily as those solar panels would. Most roads end up getting bent and cracked all over, why would you think that solar panels would fare better than cement or asphalt? And what about when they're covered in snow, surely salt won't be great for them, and expecting plows not to scrap them up at all is unrealistic. Lastly, bikes should just use the sidewalk.
