If meaning is essentially simply anything we ascribe it to, then does meaning have any meaning? There just has to be a more objective meaning to meaningfulness in general.
On a side note, what does it mean when a girl winks back at you in text conversation, and frequently uses said wink faces as well as <3's? And now she's mailing me a present...

She clearly wants you.

The Internet: Where guys go to complain about how lonely they are and have online sausage fests. Then freak out when a girl starts being friendly to them. -_-

There is only one plausible explanation based on the available data that our Flood analysts have collected for winking faces in texts...

You're talking about epistemology. There are a lot of potential takes on the meaning of meaning, but there is no broad objective consensus. Take from whatever definition you like or don't like, what you will. Women like portraying themselves as playful and cute, hence their over-utilization of inane emoticons. I personally don't think they use them to imply serious sexual potential on average, I think they do so just to try to appear "cute and playful". Though I don't know your own personal situation or circumstances, so maybe there's something else to her use of emoticons. I don't think any of us can really answer that question for you lacking you own personal knowledge on how you and her interact. I suggest you just be direct and ask what her intentions are.

Your first question is redundant. Your second question is outside my realm of expertise.
