Dark Souls 2 armor of aurous.
Okay, so I just hopped back onto Dark Souls 2 it's been a few months since I last played it. Anyway I decided to go after the Armor of Aurous. Now I know how to get it, kill the red phantom, then flexile sentry, then burn a bonfire ascetic and rinse and repeat. The problem is I've killed the red phantom on the boat about 5 times now and he's only dropped the gloves and that was from the first time I killed him. So I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong or if this isn't the actual way to get the armor or maybe this just takes time?
Anyway I'm not entirely sure what to do so that's why I came here. I just wanted to get more information before I [i]burned[/i] through all my bonfire ascetics (ha ha get it!?) since, well, I only have six left. So if you could help me out that would be awesome and I would really appreciate it.
EDIT: Oh, and if anyone needs a Ring of Life Protection I have a few...Quite a few actually...

1 ReplyI had the exact same problem a week ago, I know that feel. Alright, I got the full set by doing [i]This[/i]: Get to the boat and kill the varangians, get the red phantom t low on health (a few hits away from death) and lead him to the fog wall room. Activate the auto save (this can be done by spamming the start button, or menu screen key on PC). Kill the red phantom and see if it drops anything. Go through the fog wall and quit the game as you walk through it. Load the game and repeat from activating autosave. You won't need any more bonfire ascetics, and you won't have to fight Flexile and his cronies. Setritus out.

You my friend have been welcomed to the abysmal drop rate of items in Souls II. I went through all that shit when I was farming my turtle knight armours. Even with luck boosting items up the ass, the game will probably say, "Lol -blam!- you, you get multiple pairs of the same thing until I disappear and will never find that one last piece you're looking for."

I was using every possible drop rate improving item while I was farming the Heide Knights for their armour, and it still took me like 25 bonfire ascetics. I have at least 5 of every piece but they would refuse to drop the legs so I had to keep doing it just for the last piece haha.

5 RepliesEdited by Tyger: 5/10/2014 3:41:08 AMThere's a way easier way to do it. Spend 16,000 at maughlins store. Wait for him to update his stock (he'll have the Alva armor) Once he has Alva armor in stock kill yourself and come back to him with 0 souls. He'll give the armor of aurous out of pity.
