So, I've come into a bit of money, to the point at which I'm comfortable with opening an account on a trading website. The investment in-question is ATVI, Activision Blizzard Inc.
Should I do it?
EDIT: for those on mobile, the link says it's at $21 per share, and has been climbing steadily for the last year. I am talking about putting somewhere around $300-500 into it.

Buy 500 shares, wait for it to rise a dollar per share. Sell shares.
-
Don't drop too much money in.
-
It really depends on Destiny. WoW seems to be on the decline and Call of Duty is going to be a thing of the past in due time. Just how I see it.

Edited by Dark Elation: 5/10/2014 2:50:21 PMThere are some short term nano-tech gains that can be made. It's finding the right one, with a strong opportunity for growth that is key. Nano-tech paint companies come to mind. Did you read about the self washing car Nissan developed? This is a product that could be the standard in 3-5 years. There are others out there. Batteries for electric vehicles that charge in 30 minutes. Improved medical sensors. Gaming companies usually don't have great returns. The margins are slim because operating costs are pretty high. If the permanent R&D tax break is passed in the Senate and Obama doesn't veto it, like he said he would, then I would consider video game companies. Until then, I would hold off. EDIT: if you do get in, wait until after E3. It's too volatile around this time of year. Last GameStop lost 50% of its value after the MS conference then shot back up and increased it's value after the Sony conference. Quarterly earnings reports are a great time to get in, especially during the quarter in which the heavy hitters release. You just need to get back out right after the ceiling is reached because they correct rather quickly. Sorry for the novel lol

Hard to say. It's a small enough amount that it won't be the end of the world if you didn't see a huge return. That said, if Destiny sells like hot cakes you could do well for yourself.

The answer truly lies within
#OffTopic

Also, this thread isn't about gaming. Its about investing. It just so happens the thing OP wants to invest in is a publisher for certain video games.
Invest into the Mass Shadow Generator.

Find something with cheaper shares now that's likely to grow a huge amount in the coming years. I haven't looked, but I assume Activision stock is already several hundred dollars a share, so it's probably not going to rise by hundreds of dollars. Unlike something like Apple stock, which was around 6 bucks a share a decade ago, and goes for about $600 or $700 now. Find something like that and increase your profit a hundredfold.
-
This is something where you should make your own decision really

Invest in Freescale Semiconductor.
-
Edited by Folk: 5/10/2014 3:24:36 AMInvest in nanotechnology Stock prices for Activision are already too high, maybe if you would have invested in them 15 years ago man. Nanotech and Biotech. They are going to be big markets in 10 to 20 years.

Well here are a couple things I would do, talk to an actual professional.
Go to sage, stroke his beard, and ask for advice

Sage is a professional

Sage is love, Sage is life
Do it. Destiny is gonna sell like hot cakes and u no it bb. It already has over 500,000 preorders and it doesn't even release for 4 months.
-
It's either going to Skyrocket with Destiny, or plummet with Destiny- given how this is the biggest investment in their history. So it comes down to... do you really think Destiny will be that successful?
-
Maybe. WoW profit is declining though. Just wait for them to release another Billion Dollar franchise. Or for WoW subs to rise up again. Who knows, maybe Destiny will sell lots. I think I read it has over a million pre-orders already, or close to it.
-
Invest in holographic porn.
-
If you're serious about it and have a lot to invest, do day trading (if you're really good) or buy google
-
Hell no Activision is really greedy.
-
Considering activision has multiple billion dollar franchises already, yeah dude, go right ahead.
-
It looks like it might be going down.

Gaming seems to be a pretty stable economy right now. I don't know Blizzard in and out but they always seemed legit to me over the past 2 decades I've been gaming
