Should Element 117 be named after Master Chief?
Element 117 (temporarily, "ununseptium") has been [url=http://www.scientificamerican.com/article/superheavy-element-117-island-of-stability/]in the news lately,[/url] and it will have to be given a permanent name eventually. As members of the Bungie community, I believe it is our solemn duty to ensure that this element is named after the person most strongly associated with the number 117 - Master Chief Petty Officer John-117. If fictional entities like Thor, Prometheus, and France can all have elements named after them, then I assert that so can Master Chief. An element named after Sierra 117 would surely aid in Bungie's ultimate quest for world domination.
Possible names for the element could include:
Johnium (J)
Chiefium (Ch)
Haloium (Hl, not to be confused with halonium ions)
Spartanium (Sp, suggested by Old Hag)

1 ReplyWhy not? They named an element Krypton... which is lame it should have been called Kryptonite but whatever. I think it should be called Spartanium, & is a key ingredient in Cortanazene, a cream/lubricant product.

2 RepliesScrew the -ium suffix. Call it master chief, spartan, cortana, or halo. An element name does not have to be long or have ium on the end, look at tin
