So there's a person I know from a camp I worked one summer in college and this person is quite possibly one of the most determined people I know. However, this person always credits everything they have or have accomplished to God's Grace. BULLCRAP
We all went to this person's parents house and it was on Smith Mountain Lake (Expensive place to live) and this person's parents were loaded. Like owned their own tennis court across the road from the house and had a private dock and boat. Again, this person is very hard working, but you can't tell me for an instance that a supernatural being had anything to do with what they have been able to accomplish.
By no means am I suggesting they've paid their way through life, but a lot of opportunities are opened up when you don't go through life with money problems or miss opening doors because your parents can't send you to the camp you wanted to go to.
It just pisses me off when people are that insulting. Own up to how you have actually accomplished these things, but don't give it up to "God." You can do anything in the world with determination and money. Literally nothing will stand in your way. But don't try and attribute it to an all powerful being that picks and chooses who can succeed by some random pattern.
So naive.
Well, that's my rant. Much more mild than I thought it would be considering this has annoyed me for years.

Edited by Kamots: 5/7/2014 9:43:26 PMThere is a fine line between thanking your creator/praising him and attributing everything to him. The latter is a far extreme that stems from the former coupled with an over-zealous nature.* Seeing as I only have your angry anecdote to go off of, I can't really make a call on that. I do, however, think the latter is probably not the case. *See: North Korea (though not all such cases involve as much fear and direct indoctrination)
