So, it's finally happened. Today Lucasfilm announced that the Star Wars Expanded Universe (books, comics, video games etc.) are officially non-canon.
For me, many parts of the expanded universe were always the best part of Star Wars - and to see them let go is a shame, but it's not going to stop me from enjoying it all.
Do you think this was the right move? Has LucasFilm gone too far? Does it not make the slightest iota of difference?

Its sad because they have completely disregarded the "Old Republic" era (thank KOTOR to mass appeal) which is sad as that era is perhaps the strongest written Star Wars lore because its so simple yet deviously interesting.
