It has almost been 1 whole year since Metro Last Light dropped on PC, 360, and PS3. All of its DLC has landed, and hopefully the heat over THQ's decision about the Ranger Mode DLC has subsided.
Last Light was one of my favorite games of last year. Not only did it improve on every. single. aspect of the original, but it managed to keep me coming back--not only for its AMAZING visuals. But for its since of place, and for its consistent feeling of despair.
Some feelings have changed since I made my review but its nothing huge.
I notice that some parts were forced, like the nudity for instance, and the rushed feeling of the different endings.
The gameplay is still incredible, yes it is linear--but hey its a Metro system. If they does not scream linear, then I don't know what does. That does get whipped away with one DLC in particular, you play as a STALKER and explore the old Library for artifacts. With every item you return, you can upgrade your gear to better fight the monsters inside... And if you're a veteran of Metro 2033, then you know exactly what the Library holds for you!
Until Wolfenstein releases, I am going to conduct another playthrough. This time on Ranger Hardcore--oh boy. What are your feelings on the game a year later?

Edited by AcedannyK: 5/3/2014 3:14:14 PMMetro: LL was a good game and as much as people are entitled to their opinions on it I think it gets massively overrated by some.
AMAZING visuals
Agreed, the game's environment looks brilliant.
The gameplay is still incredible
Bit of an overstatement. It was good, but nothing particularly sensational. I did Ranger Hardcore mode second time through. The difficulty is cheap and not much else. You can't check how much ammunition you have which is bullshit. You should be able to check your ammunition when out of the heat of combat. Other than that, since you do more damage as well as the enemy, there isn't much that is challenging. Edit: And the attempts to evoke emotion from the player fell flat as hell. The characters were forced beyond belief.
