Please, let me know what kind you think I should get for a first time. I'm curious. A little afraid too.

Ask for sushi rolls or Makizushi, (Hosomaki specifically) they are usually just a bit of vegetable or fish in the middle of a rice and seaweed roll. They are very nice and a good way to get into sushi. Inari pockets/ Inarizushi are delicious sweet tofu pouches around a lump of rice, safe and tasty :D California/tuna rolls are also nice. It's not all raw fish and icky crap :P A lot of it is vegetable/rice based and it's all very nice! Nigiri are also nice, but not my favourite. An oblong of rice with some fish/prawn on top. Soy sauce is nice, Wasabi - eh, not my style. I just put a little soy on it all and omnomnom.

Avoid wasabi. Unless you can handle the spice.

What did the sushi say to the bee?

Fugu. Order fugu. Insist on it.

If the taste worries you, use a lot of spicy sauce. Anything freshly unfrozen and aquatic works fine for me.
