In the wake of the recent news I've seen a lot of people saying Bungie isn't Bungie anymore because all the Grizzled guys are leaving/getting fired. Although I am also very sad that Marty isn't at Bungie anymore :-( this couldn't be further from the truth.
A few months ago I (as an exemplary Bungie fanboy) sifted through the credits of all Halo games and looked up who worked on which game, if he is still at Bungie and continually updated the list (yes I'm good at stalking).
What follows is a list of the 50 most important people for the Halo series based on the titles they worked on and wether they had a leading role at their job. People that worked on previous Bungie titles got a little bonus, too. The people whose names are written in bold font are still with Bungie.

As you can see two-thirds of them are still at Bungie working hard to make the games they want to play hoping we'll want to play them, too.

Edited by Halo: 4/19/2014 3:57:43 AMMax Hoberman, Marty O' Donnell, Joseph Staten, Vic DeLeon, Frankie Oh look, the man in charge of the good Halo multiplayers (Max), the man behind the best game music ever (Marty), the man behind the story that pulled you in (Joseph), the man behind the beautiful levels (Vic), and the man behind the grown 'soul' of the community (Frankie). No biggie guys. Furthermore, the evidence is shown through the content of the games and the actions and attitude of Bungie that this is not the same company. Max Hoberman, one man, left Bungie and look at what their entire multiplayer turned into immediately after. BUT, don't worry; they still have the man that designed The Cage.

Well, while it still doesn't diminish the impact that was felt by the loss of Marty, at least I can believe there's still hope for Bungie.
-
Bungie has always been more than just a company or a group of people. It's an ideal to craft greatness.
-
Wait, what? Rob McLees and Bertone are gone? What about Lorraine?
-
dude...bungie is not the same bungie also i dont think sheek is there anymore not sure
-
I have to say this has made me feel a little bit better.
-
I still love Bungie, it's just that I love Marty as well and it's like watching two friends fight, only neither friend can or will tell me what happened.
-
Will you feel the same if they fire Jason Jones, Pete Parsons, CJ Cowan, Chris Carney, Mat Noguchi, and Luke Timmins, too? If Marty can be fired... anyone can be fired.

Bungie is greater than the sum of its parts. Therefore it stands to reason that the loss of one, results in a greater loss than only "one." His voice will be missing from his relationships with ALL of those people. Who Marty was to every one of those individuals (Martyx50) is now the TRUE loss. It is massive.

To me it seems like a studio in turmoil. Grizzled Elder getting fired, Joe Staten just leaving out of nowhere. Bungie isn't going to say anything else about what happened to Marty because it has nothing to do with the community. Bungie is good at a lot of stuff community-wise but the company is best at deceiving its fans.
-
Of course Bungie is still Bungie but the big issue that I see is that, like some have already said, the "mystical" feeling or aura that surrounds Bungie which served to separate it from the feeling of other companies was very much damaged by what happened with Marty. I personally have always viewed Bungie as this top tier mythical entity that could do no wrong and this, well, hurt the way that I view them.

Sadness remains though...

The Old Bungie is long gone. Bungie has become just like any other video game company now. RIP Bungie <3
