Data Mine is a private chapter for those who want to partake in collecting data on the Weapons, Powers, Armors and Vehicles that exist in both Destiny and Destiny: Public Beta. I, and hopefully others with some experience in data analysis, hope to use this data to develop an empirical model of Destiny's sandbox. Our first project will be to collect data in the Destiny Beta. Assuming the Beta does not contain the entire sandbox, our findings on the above mentioned objects will allow us to predict what Destiny's sandbox will look like in its final release. I hope by now you're asking yourself how can you participate in Data Mine. Your involvement can vary from simply using your next gen console video recording functionality to logging hard data in Excel. Our first discussion will be on Data Collection strategy. Questions I'm looking into, as of 4/14/2014, are as follows:[quote]- What is the best way to collect/pass Data? - What do you believe is the best categorical/variable data to collect? - What program is best suited for data analysis? - What is the best way to store video files of Destiny gameplay? - What is a simple/effective procedure for members to follow when collecting field data and/or making gameplay videos or us to collect?[/quote] This will be my first look into high dimensional empirical modeling. I have done Revenue and EPS forecasting, but nothing of this complexity. If you'd like, I can send you some of the work I've done in that arena. I'm looking for all the help I can get.
