I'm in the market to buy a new phone since mine is a piece of shit. I really don't know what provider to go with (Note: I live in the midwest, USA). I get employee discounts at Verizon, AT&T, Virgin Mobile, and T-Mobile. Which of those companies is the best or how will I know which one to go with. Also, what type of phone should I get? I'm thinking smartphone, but there are so many to pick from it's overwhelming.
General mobile and phone discussion.

Is Samsung a good option guys?

Get a Windows Phone Coz Cortana

In my experience, Verizon is the best if you rarely travel outside the U.S./Canada, whereas AT&T is the better choice if you're a frequent international traveler since their international plans are more reasonable and their network tends to be more compatible with other networks. As far as what model to get, it depends. What do you use your phone for mostly? Do you prefer a large screen to see better or a smaller, lighter phone that fits more easily in your pocket? Do you download a lot of apps? Do you use iTunes or some other music service? Do you take lots of pictures? I have a Nokia Lumia 1020 Windows Phone, which is great for me because I'm not a huge app user but I like photography (the 1020 has a best-available 41 megapixel camera) and I use a lot of things in the Microsoft ecosystem (Exchange for work email, Hotmail for personal email, Xbox Live Gold account, Xbox Music Pass, etc.). But the choice for you might be totally different. I'd suggest you test out a bunch of phones, keeping in mind what you typically use your phone for. If you're looking at high-end smartphones, you're most likely going to go with an Apple iPhone, Samsung Galaxy, or Nokia Lumia. All 3 have their benefits and detriments, and you just have to pick which one is best for you based on your preferences :-)

Edited by Gatsby: 4/10/2014 4:34:31 PMGet an HTC M8, just released its the best android phone out now. Don't get an iPhone 5s it's terrible. I don't know about networks, I'm a britbong but if you have any phone related questions I'll be happy to help.

Get a flip phone so when you get mad at people who you are on the phone with you can slam it shut
-
My iPhone 5S is great, I love it

Go with Verizon or AT&T if you want good coverage. Other than that I'm in the same boat because my phone keeps freezing and not working and dying a random times... Vindicotter, did you get banned, or just feel like making an alt?
-
Verizon or AT&T. As for phone, get an Nexus, cheap and well known. If you want an iPhone, get a used iPhone 5, they are quite durable, and should be relevant for the next 2 years.

The new Windows Phone because, well, Cortana. Seriously though, she doesn't even sound like Cortana. On the bright side though, Cortana > Siri. Siri can't even sing.

Any of the iPhones.

The HTC one is the best phone out there.
-
I recommend a Nokia 3210

Verizon or AT&T will be your best bet. iPhone 4
-
How did you get banned?
-
Either get an iPhone 5s (you can also wait for the 6 which I would do) or get an HTC One (M8).
-
Galaxy S4? Or S5, whenever that's out if it's not already. Don't know what you've got now but I prefer my S4 to any Apple device I've had, sort of feels one step ahead with minor details. My cousin just got the new HTC One though and he says that's even better, but I wouldn't know really.

Try no phone.

Don't get an iPhone, it's overpriced for a phone that does the exact same thing compared to other phones
-
I got the Moto X for 100 bucks and you can customize the color choices and have a free engraving. Also have voice recognition by saying, "OK, Google now, [insert question/command]" and it'll do it. It's pretty cool.

Edited by jbx: 4/10/2014 4:31:04 PMIf you're Midwest, go with Verizon. I'm an iPhone advocate, but if you don't go with that the only other choice I'd go with is the Samsung Galaxy series.
-
Verizon is by far the best provider. Get the iPhone 5 or wait for the 6. #iphonegang #bangbang

I don't know if At&t is as big in the Mid west as it is on the East Coast. I would either go with a Samsung Galaxy S4 or wait for the iphone 6.
