I'm genuinely curious.

The same reasons why I don't believe in Santa Clause.
-
Lack of evidence for god.
-
1. I like truth and facts derived from the scientific process which is always evolving our knowledge. 2. Find me one example in the known universe of a singular being or object. The idea of one omnipotent god seems plain crazy to me. 3. Openness and tolerance, too many religions or political views are closed off leading to conflict in many forms where science is open to challenge and embraces change or difference.

Read the title as "What are the reasons people turn to Autism"... OT? I don't care. It just felt that my misunderstanding was needed here.
-
Because they decided that there wasnt enough evidence to support the religion. Im Christian, but im smart enough to do some research...

I believe in God, and even in Jesus. But not really the organized religion part. I mean, you have seen what happens when idiots congregate... However, why I believe in God is simply because I think that Human thought is just too complex. We have seen almost Zero evidence of it existing in other creatures. We are simply evolved much more than other species. And why I believe in Jesus, well, let's look at the facts. He was a being that existed long ago. However, despite the lack of fast traveling knowledge of the time, the majority of the world knew of his existence. I simply find it odd that a fictional being could be so famous at that period in time.

The answer is knowledge. Knowledge is the enemy of faith.

They found out how things work in the world.

because when i grew up I found out there full of ridiculous rules and weren't fun , also i didn't have a choice in joining to begin with that was my parents

My dad forced religion down my throat my entire life, so I sat down and actually read and thought and came to the conclusion that it's all crap. That and there is no proof, most the people are twats and I'd rather not base my entire existence on a dude that when he gets mad and doesn't aprove of something, destroys it and everyone.
-
Personally: lack of evidence and that all religions think I'm gonna burn for eternity because of having a bf. Generally:lack of evidence, disagreeing with the religious views, not being brought up as religious(no brainwashing)

Edited by Tartan 118: 4/6/2014 11:35:49 AMNo evidence for a god. For me personally, it was also how religious fundamentalists treat certain groups that pushed me closer to humanism.
-
I don't really know why I don't believe in God. I guess I've seen too much of what humans can do to each other. I don't like to think we were made to be this way. I like to think our brutality and social hierarchy comes from our naivete as a species.

I read that as autism. I swear I turn dyslexic sometimes.

We don't take the "God works in mysterious ways" as an excuse for letting a 10 year old get -blam!-, or killed. We are edgier than any of you chirtsens and we have class and use proper grammer, something you idiots will never understood. We become enlightened by our own intelligence, not by a phony god. You can give up giving all of your problems to a god, and solve them yourself, the feeling you'll receive is truly euphoric.
-
Two reasons. One: I myself have never needed God to improve myself or to help me get through things in life. Two: I am more into having rational explanations for things, God has always seemed like a cop out answer to me. Kind of like magic, but at least magic is entertaining.

The internet. It's a free exchange of thought with strangers where you don't have to worry about persecution. Open minded theist reading the argument and converting. That's what happened in my case, and it's more than likely many reasons.

because science, and the scientific evidence that contradicts religious texts.

This is seriously the best bait you could put on the hook?

How is one god from one religion more valid than another? If every religion claims to be the truth and all others false, yet gives no hard evidence that their god exists other than "Believe harder!", then why the hell should I believe any of them? I don't hate religion or religious people, I just don't agree with their beliefs.
