My anus is ready for college and I need a fast and affordable laptop.
I'm not buying a lolMac and my budget is up to $1000, maybe a little more. I plan on becoming a computer programmer and keeping the laptop for a while after doing my pre-reqs.
I want a fast computer. One with a good and spacious HDD (at most 500 GB) and a nice amount of RAM. I'm not too sure on the touch screen as I do like Windows 8, but a touch screen would be too much for doing simple things... 16 in screen is a must.
I... uh.. Don't know what else to put.

Well I am going to tell you I am a little bias but I love my thinkpads they are very durable (mine had a mtn dew expload in my backpack over mine and yes it's still working no problem. Battery life is amazing with my 2009 thinkpad I got a T400 it on ebay used for $200 It's not the most amazing specs but I have my custom build desktop for my gaming

MSi GE70? IDK, I bought a GT60, was good for heavy loads and gaming, had an awesome keyboard, but was heavy, clunky, and had a shit trackpad. The other G-series laptops seem like good choices. Oh, and never buy an Alienware.

Stretch your budget and get an MSI Gs70. It's ossum

Edited by DeChief: 4/5/2014 5:35:16 AMMy laptop cost $1050 AUD, it's got an i7, 16gb ram and 1.5gb dedicated graphics, as well as a built in touch screen and webcam. But it's only 15 inch I think, possibly even less.

Ibuyppower, amazon, ebay...all your friends. Don't buy from any store. I suggest Asus or lenova.

Edited by Spiffy Caboose: 4/5/2014 1:15:06 AMLenovo Ideapad Y510p it's a 15.6" but at 1080p it will diplay 2 papers side by side easily. Dedicated GPU for gaymes. Powerful quad core i7, 8GB ram, 1TB 5400rpm drive + 24GB SSD I don't think it's touch screen though. I was looking at the $1049.00 version I have a Yoga 2 Pro which I would highly recommend, but it's only 13.3"

I use a Surface Pro for university. Would definitely recommend with a mechanical keyboard At home I use a Dell Inspiron N5110 with a second gen i7. Which is very awesome... but there are probably newer models which are even better of course. Plus you can get different colours! I got a bright blue which looks fabulous

So it has to be a 17 in laptop? Why not 13 in?
