Recently I had a thought about allowing users to manage the posts made in a thread they created. Obviously editing posts and banning users should not be allowed but it might be nice to have the option to keep our own threads clean.
Bungie does a lot to try to insure that player experiences maintain a high level of quality. Banning trouble makers both in game and on the forums and default muting players not in your fireteam are a couple of measures taken to do just that. This works to bolster a positive association with products from the company.
Is there a reason why people initiating various discussions can't be provided some tools to help maintain their own image? For example you may have someone who insists on negatively contributing to a thread but doesn't break any of the rules provided in the Code of Conduct it might be nice to by default hide that comment to help promote the original theme of the discussion. A delete would be more effective but would likely raise more concerns and be met with more opposition upon implementation.
This would perhaps provide users with a way of managing how they are presented to others in the community by being able to better distance their contributions from behaviors they don't agree with.
My question is two-fold: Are there technical reasons why such a feature is not currently present? Are there social (non-technical) reasons that self moderation with these simple capabilities should not be provided?

Although your idea is a good thought. The first thing that came to my mind was Censorship. We have the tools to Mute, Report & Dislike. I would prefer leaving the hard part (Banning) to the Ninjas

I can still see users abusing this feature. If it means that much to people, they can just post from a private group.
