I'm trying to study for a rest coming up but I can not focus myself...Also why I'm on here making a topic about my problem.
How do you guys get yourselves focused for a test or anything your not motivated to do?
2 Hours Later...
Thanks guys for your tips. This thread was able to get me thinking about strategies which helped me get going. It is now 1 a.m. and I have learned much about bias's and concepts.
I have learned that a hindsight bias is not a healthy way to look at the past, because you don't learn from mistakes. I also learned that Algorithms are procedures and levels we use everyday to complete a task. Even though it may seem that I have learned quite a bit. It is still not enough...I am going to try and study again Tomorrow so I know about the intelligences and IQ tests. But I atleast remember from reading earlier that Creativity can be known as a 'Genius' variable since their is no definition just more opinions.
That is my mental recap haha so thanks for reading (since you found my word choice to be interesting enough) and have a good night ;)

Edited by goldenzeus: 4/3/2014 2:11:52 PMBeing forced to do something mentally challenging that you are not motivated to do can be the most anguishing experience. I use some NLP daily to help me get through annoyances like that. 1. Take several deep breaths 2. Tell yourself that it is temporary. 3. Tell yourself that it must be done. 4. Tell yourself that you're going to do it. Make sure that you're getting enough sleep. Nothing can destroy concentration like a fatigued brain. Ensure that you're getting enough exercise. Pump oxygen to the gray matter. Doing something that you don't want to do requires WILL POWER, so if you complete the task, then you level up WILL POWER +1.

I take the 48 minute bus journey to uni campus and study in the library. About every half hour I'll take a few minutes break and go on like that for 8 or so hours at a time. Can't do shit at home honestly. Always get distracted
-
I goof off for five minutes, then work for five minutes. Rinse and repeat until all work is finished. That way you never need to focus for more than five minutes at a time.
-
Tell yourself that you have to do something; that you have to focus on it. Now, that probably won't work unless you have a lot of willpower to start whatever you must do, so maybe also try to calm yourself down, tune out distractions, and focus on the one and only thing you should be focusing on at that time. I think that tuning out distractions is really helpful no matter what helps you, though.

Tape a toilet paper roll around each eye, then you will only see what is in front of you.
