quick question,
Did Abraham Lincoln end slavery in the U.S.? I know this may be skewed by people from all over the world not really knowing U.S. history except the basics,but I'm just curious to see the results.

No,since the South was no longer part of the US,the law only applied to North. But there wasn't any slaves in the North.

Well, he signed the emancipation proclamation effectively making slavery illegal but it didn't truly end until after the civil war. Even then the black people had nowhere to go so they would just farm on white peoples' land for an extremely small amount of money And then of course racism and Jim Crow's laws didn't end until well into the 1960s

2 Repliesthat really depends on how you define slavery. lincoln was instrumental in outlawing slavery, but forms of slavery still exist in the US today (illegal sex trade)

Pretty much, Emancipation Proclamation and all that. And I know that even though it did not get rid of slavery everywhere, it effectively freed the vast majority of US slaves and started what would become a nationwide thing.

He ended it in confederate states with the emancipation proclamation, the rest of the slaves were freed after the war.

It wasn't just one person or thing but Lincoln did contribute the most toward this effort Therefore we view him as the force that ended slavery
