How much science will be in Destiny?
One of my favourite parts of science fiction is, well, the science behind it.
I know that Bungie is turning a blind eye towards somethings for the fun of the game, but hopefully there is some stuff that is expanded on.
How much science do you want in Destiny?

These kids don't understand science.

It's mythic sci-fi, so everything that seems unrealistic will be called space magic.

Rocket science is good enough for me! Alchemy or what ever they call it seems complex. That teleporting stuff is cool!

Edited by WolfsbaneXI: 3/28/2014 6:35:49 PMA lot. Science rules! Bill Nye the science guy. Bill Bill Bill Bill Bill! Bill Nye the science guy. Foreal though. I guess it would be cool if they explained a lot of things in a scientific way

I don't want there to be to much science. That can create a box that a creator wouldn't step out of. How it presently is, is pretty good for me. I like the term space magic, but yea...I guess I would prefer the technological or spiritual advancement behind that term. Magik is science we don't understand. Since its in a game where people use the magik and just don't witness it, it kind gives me a feeling that it shouldn't be called magik. Then again, it's mythic. So I guess in the end it makes sense... Haha idk but either way I still think it will be cool. Star wars used a new word. Just called it the force. Maybe destiny should call it something too. Or....space magik is fine too

Coming from someone who knows a great amount of the HALO Lore. I want to see a tiny bit more of "Mythic" than the sci-fi. It gives them leeway for alot of things. But for some of the more obvious things they should stick to the science. From what we have seen and heard so far. I think we will have a great balance of the two.

I'm a huge fan of hard science fiction, but I don't expect there to be a lot of it. This isn't Star Trek or Mass Effect. and using too much pseudo-science will detract from the mythic feel. Expect it to be more in line with the technological fantasy that is Star Wars. Remember that to us now, a sufficiently advanced technology will appear to be magickal. I think there's a version of the uncanny valley here that needs to be respected for the sake of certain concepts, tropes and effects.

^^^ #offtopic's thoughts on both science and space magic.

Science is replaced with space magic in Destinys universe. I dont expect to see much actual science behind anything in the game.
