A report published by the European Commission Joint Research Committee claims that music web piracy does not harm legitimate sales.
The Institute for Prospective Technological Studies examined the online habits of 16,000 Europeans.
They also found that freely streamed music provided a small boost to sales figures.
The International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI) said the research was "flawed and misleading".
"It seems that the majority of the music that is consumed illegally by the individuals in our sample would not have been purchased if illegal downloading websites were not available to them," wrote the researchers in their report, Digital Music Consumption on the Internet: Evidence from Clickstream Data.
So thoughts on the subject? Do you pirate music? I do all the time I am not paying to have a copy of music that I do not own and I don't want to buy an album just to get a few songs.
The only music I have payed for is the Halo 3,ODST,Reach and 4 OST's.

I donate on Bandcamp when I download songs from there. I probably wouldn't even have very much music on my devices if download sites were not available. I enjoy music, just not enough to pay out the ass for one song on album I enjoy. I think the problem for me is that I don't like many artists, but I do like many individual songs. I'm not really genre loyal either. So, I can buy an album and pay $13 for one or two songs or pay nothing for a single song and support my independent artists through merch and donations.
There is an exception, I have bought four of mc chris' albums. He is my favorite artist ever overall.
