After several years, a movie of The Giver is finally being made. I'm pretty damn excited about it but a bit pessimistic at the same time. Back when I was in middle school, we read it but like the other stupid twats, I had no appreciation for the book at the time. Now it's one of my favorite books (although I still have yet to read the other ones in the series).
I know I really shouldn't judge too much, 'cause it's just a trailer, but it gave me the impression that a lot of stuff from the books isn't going to be followed entirely. That said, I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
On a side note; (Assuming you click this thread) Charlemagne, what was that book that you recommended me when we were talking about Ender's Game?
Saw this in the comments and I strongly agree;
I haven't read The Giver in a long time to forgive me if I'm mistaken, but was it this futuristic in the book? I never pictured them living in this futuristic city. I also think it would have been a smart idea to film this movie in black in white and then, as Jonas starts to see color, have more and more things filmed in color. Then again that's just me.
All I remember thinking was about how much the Giver seemed like a paedophile.
