Just about everything in Destiny can be upgraded. If you can wield it, wear it, ride it, or deploy it, you can also make it bigger, faster, bolder, stronger, or just more badass looking in general. In the case of your armor, you’ll need to do more than just wear it. Unlike your favorite jeans, your armor won’t just get better with age. You’ll need to invest in it. You’ll need to fight and scrounge your way toward becoming a legend. You’ll need to love it a little. Don’t worry. It’s fun work.
What are you going to focus on upgrading?

I'm a generalist. So I will more than likely level up everything at the same time. As for class I haven't decided which to play as.
-
My plan is, since I'm wanting to be a Titan, work up my armor and weapons at the same pace, then when I'm satisfied with those, I'll move onto my focuses.
-
Well I have decided that my main class will be the warlock (I say main class because it is confirmed that we will be able to have multiple character slots) so my main focus in my warlock will be upgrading my focus along side my guns but I will try to upgrade everything equally
-
I'm planning on being a hunter, which I believe has been described as being more of a stealthy and quick-kill sort of class (correct me if I'm wrong). Because of this I will probably start by upgrading my primary weapon (revolver maybe), followed by my focus (stealth related?), then my armor, and secondary weapon.
-
I like my guns to do a lot of damage. So that. And then probably my chest piece, as that's where you will probably get shot the most.
-
in my opinion helmet or chestplate need to be upgraded the most because they protect the most important things for us if we are human dont know the anatomy of exo or awoken yet so cant make a solid judgement on that. in addition helmets can sometimes come with cool perks when upgraded.
-
I would upgrade focus and sniper. But basically try to upgrade everything equally so all my gear is pretty good. :)
-
My focuses and the armor that fits my personality and play style, then I can worry about what gun is good or below par to the rest. Gotta feel good and look good before you blow random shat up.
-
I expect to be playing as a Titan, so what I'll be doing is finding the weapon I'm determined to use for the rest of the game (Silver Dollar Mk. 35) and upgrade the absolute hell out of it.
-
Armor first. As a Warlock, I need all the survivability I can get.
-
I think the primary is the most important piece of gear to upgrade because it's probably weapon you'll use most.
-
My sniper because only need 1 shot
-
Couldn't possibly comment until I start playing.
-
Weapons. Sometimes the best defense is a good offense, and I believe that will be the case for Destiny.
-
As I will try a Titan first, damage will be my primary focus.
-
Primary gun > Favourite focus > Secondary gun > Chestpiece > 2nd favourite focus > Heavy gun > Vehicle > Rest of armour.
-
Agility and accuracy.
-
I have issues with death so armor will be important to me. But having a juiced primary weapon will be my main focus of upgrades to begin with at least.
-
Damage damage damage.
-
I would say armor, weapons, and repeat
-
Glass Cannon
your favorite jeans.
No, my favorite jeans.

Health damage and speed
