On Thursday MEPs voted overwhelmingly in favour of the regulation, which will see a common charger used for smartphones by 2017.

I know it seems like nothing, but thank god. All these companies keep changing their chargers to force you to buy more, just like Apples newest Ipod has a new charger.
I wonder if they plan to do a universal plug, who's would they pick?

I could see this being somewhat reasonable so that Apple couldn't screw people over like you said, but other than that everyone basically uses Micro USB anyways so...
