What are some of the best cars for new drivers? In my opinion the best car for a new driver, is something that's fun, reliable, and cheap to buy/maintain. An EK Honda civic is a pretty good car for new drivers. They fun to drive because they're so light, parts are plentiful and cheap. They're really reliable, and get great mpg

Something moderately safe, yet not expensive or in need of constant repair. A mid 90's sedan would be perfect for most people. The cars I learned on were an early 00's Cavalier and a late 90's Dodge Ram. Pretty sure the truck gave me my ability to parallel park anything anywhere (an ability further refined by my Impala because they weren't made with passenger mirrors at the time), but I defiantly would teach someone in that little Cav before anything else.

Is it bad I kind of agree with Mine Turtle? >LS1's are especially bullet proof >You can get them for a fairly decent price >How can a man hate pop ups headlights? >Great car to wrench on by yourself >Parts are dirt cheap >Aftermarket is -blam!- huge if you want to add power It's certainly not the safest option for a 16 year old because they will almost certainly wrap it around a tree, but what if they don't?
-
Like somebody else said any older 4 cylinder lightweight econo box. And you can't get any better than a honda civic in this case.

I'd like one of those, and I'm not a new driver. I'm relatively new, but not 17 new. I'm almost 19 new!

My 06 Focus is pretty much goddamn bulletproof.

Peugeot

Any others?

In a couple years you'll be able to pick up FR-S's pretty cheap, so that's pretty much the perfect starter car >Gets good gas mileage >Pretty solid drivetrain >Not a whole lot of power >RWD >Manual >Can experience what it's like to drive a RWD sports car at slow speeds

Any 4 cylinder, automatic, econobox or any 10 year old, V6 sedan like a Taurus.
