NOTE: This is NOT a review. That comes later after I have completed the game and all that jazz.

Ok, let me be clear right now. Thief is not as bad as the "reviewers" say it is. This game has been under a butt load of scrutiny since its inception, and probably because its not 100% the original (double standards much). Anywho, Thief on the PS4 (not that it matters) is actually a pretty enjoyable game that does have many flaws. Most notable are things like the first major cutscene looks like its running at sub 20FPS, lip synching is a bit off and reminds me of a Japanese movie, and the inventory system a very clunky mess.
By that I mean, you have to hold the left button on the Dpad, scroll over to the item with the right stick, then hit the corresponding Dpad button that the item requires. Why cant I just wheel over to it, and that be it? The touch pad is the worst by far! TURN THAT OFF!!!! The sensitivity is far to low and its a fight every time just to switch your gear.
For new comers, the game is going to look like a copy of Dishonored which is fair but not really the truth. Its actually the opposite. Being referred to only as The City, it is a highly detailed and atmospheric world that feels really dirty, and riddled with disease. The citizens are now being infected by some kind of virus called "The Gloom", I dont know much about it yet, other than its supposedly makes you relive your nightmares over and over again every night. So suicide is the only option...
The stealth mechanics are nice and smooth. Using the worlds spectacular lighting to your advantage will help you be the ghost you want to be. It is best to be that way, because combat is HIGHLY discouraged. Taking on one or two enemies is fine, but three or more is a death sentence. Throwing bottles, using special arrows will help make you job much easier. You really need to play this game cautiously, because it is not just humans that will give you away. Dogs, and many dreadful birds will give away your position when ever you disturb their slumber.
Everything is working pretty nicely so far in this game. It still needed more polishing and the UI needs and overhaul, but so far it is better than the "reviewers" are making it out to be. I see it becoming one of the most underrated games of the year.

I heard some bad comments about horrendous AI, extremely linear level design, token tools for token puzzles, downgrade in sound detection and the fact that the Master Thief is apparently just another bloke on another episode of Hoarders.
-
I'm really bothered by the severe audio glitches on the PS3 version. Here's hoping that the team will do something about it soon, and not just cast the last gen systems aside. The screen tearing is also a bother, but I can live with it.

Edited by Braydzz: 2/28/2014 12:46:27 AMIts not bad. My only complaints are the following: Mission waypoints should be put on the loading spot rather than directly where the objective is. If there weren't any loading screens then you could maybe do that. The city is kinda hard to navigate through cause there are some things I can climb and most things I cant. I don't know if this is a complaint but it is really dark my brightness on my monitor is maxed out and im still walking into pitch black rooms and there is no slider for the brightness in the game. The characters are all forgettable and uninteresting. Also I don't know how combat is because im on custom difficulty so I can't kill do knockouts or be detected. I don't know if it was a good idea for my first playthrough but oh well.

I have really enjoyed thief for the whole hour and a half I've played it. My Xbox one has the wheel select feature. GET OWNED SONY jk

I think I'll pass on it and wait for inFamous Second Son.

You like every game though. Seriously, name a big AAA game that came out in the past 2 years that you didn't like. All your reviews are positive, I don't even understand why you make reviews because you barely criticize any games for anything. You praised Killzone Shadowfall when it's an extremely generic and linear shooter. I don't even know why anybody here should take your opinion seriously.

It does very well on PC. Honestly the UI and cutscene FPS stuttering is probably something that comes with the consoles. You can also set the FOV on PC up to 110. Makes me very happy.
-
I WOOOOOOOON. Not sure I'll stop saying that for a while.
-
Was it worth your money? they could use a little help on making Garett seem cooler looking but I guess they didn't want to copy assassins creed which is fine but they could've done better.
-
It pains me to say this but Dishonored is so much better then this game. I'm talking leaps and bounds. I would have rather had a Dishonored definitive edition.

This is why I don't go by what some reviewer says. While it may not be getting good reception, I'm finding it rather enjoyable. Never played, or even heard of, the Thief games but from playing Dishonored (both use Unreal engine) I think it focuses more on stealth and more challenging in that area. Especially since it's not meant to be a combat-orientated game, which you said. And aside from the super natural abilities in Dishonored, Thief basically has you relying on normal human instinct which gives the game a real sense of difficulty. And unlike Dishonored the game has a better sense of open world play in the sense that during a chapter, you can back-track to your hideout in the clock tower or visit Basso. So I give it a 7/10. For scale, Assassins Creed is 9/10 and Dishonored is a 6/10 Sorry about the PS4 touchpad thing. Us xbone players have the ability to use our voices to get the attention of guards. Works great when a glass bottle is nowhere in sight. Also is the ability to lean and vault using the Kinect

Based on your impressions, those reviews sound spot on to me, mainly the 7/10 ones.

Edited by Fresh Pancake: 2/27/2014 3:29:00 AMI really like it so far, I prefer the gameplay to Dishonored, and I also really like the story. I do however have issues with UI same as you, but that's the only complaint I have so far, I'm surprised its getting bad reviews.
