A man from Independence Township, Michigan accidentally shot and killed himself on Monday while teaching his girlfriend about gun safety, the Oakland Press reports.
The 36-year-old, whose name has not been released, was showing his girlfriend how his three handguns are safe when they aren’t loaded, according to the Detroit Free Press. He was attempting to demonstrate the safety of the handguns by holding them to his head and pulling the trigger.
The third gun fired, and the man was struck in the head. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Three children ages 7, 10, and 12 were in the home but did not witness the shooting, according to reports. The man's girlfriend told authorities he had been drinking most of the day before the incident took place.
Well, he succeeded at teaching his girlfirend a lesson.

Welp, i guarantee you she will remember that lesson so long as she lives and breathes. Drinking, playing with guns, pointing guns at something you don't want to destroy.... the list gores on and on. Classic Darwin Award candidate.
-
What a freaking idiot. How did he make it as long as he did?
-
Edited by LowIQPlayz3445: 2/27/2014 7:30:08 AMI'd like to argue that the first two guns were unloaded.
-
Don't be him and don't drink near anything you can kill yourself with.
-
Edited by Winters Darkseid: 2/27/2014 7:39:49 AMWhat a idiot. You never point a gun at anyone unless you intend to shoot them. Also, the first two guns weren't loaded, OP. That's terrible, though. Why would she let him go on if he was drinking before?
-
So... yeah.
-
This is the 2nd place Darwin Award in my mind lol
-
goddamn Detroit he deserved it though 3 kids and they aren't even married the girlfriend should teach her kids a lesson and shoot herself
-
What a goddamn moron.
-
Drinking and handling fire arms. Surely a model citizen for gun safety.
-
He's a genius. I am being serious here. As a teacher he found a way to make sure the lesson stuck. She will NEVER treat a gun as anything other than loaded in her life. Her kids will never forget that lesson, nor her grandkids. Well dine man. You taught her in a way she will never forget.

Edited by DELIVER ME MEMES: 2/25/2014 6:48:00 PMHAHAHAHAHA hilarious. #1 shouldn't have been drinking #2 broke even more safety rules by pointing it at his head. edit:i accidentalied a word

That guy deserves a Darwin Award for that one.
a unloaded
An unloaded. Are you from the south, per chance?
-
When it comes to natural selection, nature is a mistress only as harsh as we are careless and ignorant.

Edited by Capitons Wang: 2/25/2014 6:47:27 PMRule #1 always assume the gun s loaded. Rule# 2 never point a gun at someone, unless you intend to shoot them This guy did it to himself. Oh gawd, drinking and handling guns, what a rere.
-
............
-
Rule #1: Treat every weapon as if it were loaded. That's really awful though, I can't imagine how she feels.
-
I'm pretty sure he had no idea how gun safety worked in the first place.
-
That is literally the worst way to teach someone about gun safety.
-
I'm pretty sure we all know not to drink and mess with guns at the same time.
-
an unloaded* girlfriend* OT: What an idiot.
-
who the hell let's someone who's been drinking have access to a gun?
