1. Cut out Junk Food and Eat Wiser
With our lifestyles and the convenience of junk food it's a lot easier to rip open a bag of doritos than cook an entire meal. These types of food, however, can cause you to be depressed. Anxious. Angry. If your body isn't supplied the nutrition it requires it rebels hard.
Instead of grabbing burger, pick up a package of chicken breasts. Grab some veggies.
Go home and prepare, even if just for yourself, a meal. The activity of cooking and the accomplishment of creating a tasty dish can help you feel better.
2. Pick up an Exercise Routine
You don't have to lift hard core or go to the gym every day. Simply allotting a set time on days of the week that work for you to run, practice yoga, go hiking, take a walk around the city, gives your body the steps towards fitness it needs. Getting active does incredible things to the body and mind.
3. Turn off the games. Turn off the computer. Put the Phone down.
Today we find ourselves in this constant trap of checking notifications, looking up the latest youtube video, or playing that DLC that just came out. While playing games or using social media is fun, doing so all day causes stress on your mind. Allow yourself only a set amount of time each day to use these things and the rest of the time towards activities you've otherwise put off. That thing that's been sitting there that you said you would finish a month ago? Go finish it. Stop stressing about what your friends on xbox are doing, or who just liked your status, or what's on sale on steam.
It's not important.
4. Drink Water
I can't even stress this enough. Drink a ton of water. No more soda unless for a treat. No more energy drinks. More water.
5. Make Goals and Meet Them
If you don't currently have this habit, start small. Make goals you know you can accomplish and seek out to do so. Meeting goals that you make establishes a sense of power, confidence, and control in your life. We are often faced with the delusion of uselessness, which can latch on to the point where you don't want it to let go. You're happier doing nothing and being nothing. However, once you begin to realize that you're capable of small achievements, the larger ones will seem less daunting and more doable.
(Headed to work will add more later)
I hope that in some way this helps for anyone who is in the dumps.

i hope you all realize smiggles is fat

All but 3. Alas, procrastination, thou art my mortal nemesis.

Its sad that people need simple advice like this.
-
Make sure you don't have any vitamin deficiencies. I take vitamin c, zinc and fish oil daily. Try and read at least 30 minutes a day. Vow to learn a new thing every day; I usually learn history or read up on politics. Work out most days of the week, eat and drink as clean as you can.
-
I do these already. Mostly.
-
Don't tell me what to do!
-
Great thread with good advice. Everything said here is true.
-
I do some of that stuff. I also forget others or just ignore them. My problem is probably mental health. Probably shouldn't divulge anything here, but it's nothing dangerous. Just... crippling.
-
Goooonna be a tiiiiiny bump but I was surprised how getting more carbs gives you energy. I mean I always knew that but I never appreciated it. I use to yawn all day and barely be able to get out of bed but I change my food choices a little, eat more carbs and suddenly it's not so hard waking up on the morning. Suddenly I really do have energy for the day! Neato.

You forgot fapping

Water and powerlifting will calm your nerves, trust me. Cardio freaks me out, though.

Edited by Jim the Admin: 2/16/2014 4:13:04 PMJim's List to a Healthier Life: 1. Ignore Smee
Once you've muted Smee you can enjoy a better B.net, one devoid of role playing gay black men. Muting it isn't necessary, you can just never take it seriously and instead laugh at it because laughter is also healthy.
2. Only drink water
Did cavemen have soda? I bet Marilyn Monroe drank lots of water maybe. Obama most likely drinks water as well. Chuck Norris also has been reported to possibly drink water. Voss doesn't count.
3. Have lots of prolonged sex with women
Sexual intercourse, if done correctly is a high cardio activity. Cardio is essential to shedding off body fat, which we all know you need.
4. Be Christian
All non-Christians (Read not American citizens) will not be granted immortal life with our lord and savior but will instead burn in Communist Hell. Your eternal soul is just as important as your physical body, comrade.
5. Log off B.net and get a life
Betas aka Neckbeards can never live a healthy life if they are constantly online. Perhaps log off, join a sports club, maybe talk to a girl. Who knows, you may come to the realization that something in your life was missing this whole time.
Here's one that helps: Meditation.

Edited by Gingers Unite: 2/18/2014 4:12:19 AMI agree with everything except for electronics. Since I have no soul this phone is the closest thing to it. But I am no means addicted. I get on b.net and check the news but that's it. And I only game for 1-1.5 hours a day

Loving people, the messy dirty grumpy angry people around you is the most important thing you will ever do.

Damn! I forgot to go to the store. I just looked and the only food I have in this place is 5 bags of popcorn and some apple jam. I've made a huge mistake. (It's either Chinese or Pizza it seems right now. What should I get?)

Does this apply to me?

Edited by Jaaake AU: 2/16/2014 8:08:26 PMGood advice. Every couple of days I like to go for ~5 to 10k runs. Unfortunately this has led to shin splints... Feels bad, man. Need to find something else that will wear me down the same, but won't put strain on my legs

Good advice, though you don't need to totally cut out anything if your good at moderation and self-awarness.
Making goals is so hard and difficult why why why why why yyyyyyyyyy
