Edited by Hylebos: 2/13/2014 7:01:03 PMThere's really no need to be so sensitive. A Journalist's audience usually isn't the hyper hardcore crowd of Destiny fans who know that Destiny is this crazy new shared world shooter, afterall, those people already know what a Shrike is as they've likely already seen it somewhere else on the internet, probably here. No, they wrote that article for the average joe who goes to their website for news, and in trying to define Destiny's genre they could either go into a paragraph explanation about how Destiny is very MMO-like and is yet not an MMO, breaking the flow of their article, and they can repeat that explanation for every single article they ever write about Destiny so so that they don't semantically offend certain fans... Or they could just call it an MMO. Which, while it doesn't paint a perfect picture of what the game is like, gives people the gist of things. Hell, I'd call Destiny MMO-like in a heartbeat when trying to explain it to someone new (as I've done on several occasions). That's what journalism is about. Knowing your audience, and they know that if they throw around the term shared world shooter their audience isn't going to understand what that means.
