So recently we've been getting some issues with our podcast. Over the last few weeks we've been able to do video but at the expense of good discussion as the program we used had a delay between each of us talking, which was killing the show. I now pose the following question to you guys given that you essentially have the best opinions on what makes our show good. Which would you prefer?
Should we stick with video and persevere or should we go back to a simple voice chat until we can find a better video decision.
We'll read what you have to say but personally we all felt that the lack of coherent conversation was killing the show a bit much.

I particularly enjoy when there are dissenting opinions besides those who don't accept the glory of the Warlock. When Remy was on la couple of podcasts ago and started a bit of a debate over what qualified as next gen multiplayer it really held my attention. So basically find more things you guys disagree on.

Edited by bob_obba: 2/17/2014 1:46:37 PMWhile we all like seeing everyones chiselled good looks and epic beards, there is presumably a desire for you guys to keep the podcast as the definitive record of your discussions (as opposed to a youtube channel). The chat is cool to catch up on, and the video feeds are fun, its not central to our enjoyment. Good banter is much more important. (plus Derrick seems to be allergic to video feeds!) I wouldn't know subscription numbers, but I assume the number of downloads you get on iTunes far outstrips the 30-40 guys who entertain / annoy you on Twitch. :P

The video was something to make it interesting to watch video wise, but now the chat is there, and to be honest, if you all just had one image up of yourselves instead of proper video, that'd be just fine. Don't let presentation undermine quality.

The audio is the whole reason we all started listening. If there is video, great, but it should not be a major focus if it hinders the chat itself.

Wow! Thanks for all the great feedback so far everyone.

Honestly, audio only is much more important until you can find a video program that doesn't have these issues. The conversation is way more important then Watt's Beard. Too bad there wasn't an audio only streaming site like twitch with chat but without a delay. There should also be a link dump for all the topics discussed so you can see "this epic looking titan" even listening to the mp3.

I think what needs to happen is links to pictures or video need to be placed on the website before the podcast (sunday night if possible) so then those listening could open those up and have them ready, or review them later. But just go with voice for now. That way people can get the content ready for the discussion and still enjoy the pace of the show

Having just listened to all the shows in the last 4 days, you can tell just via the audio when the video is getting in the way. What makes the show great to me is the conversations. So anything that keeps the best flow of conversation from happening, needs to go. If there are pics or vids that you feel we need to see, should be simple enough to point us to the forums where we can find a link. Either way, i'm hooked. I will listen to every show, either live or the next day.

I can speak only for myself, but I would rather have a cohesive, "smaller" product (i.e. just sound) over a grander scale product that seems lacking in quality. Granted, I listen to the podcast during my day-to-day activities, so video doesn't affect me. Just my opinion.
