So I had a Bnet birthday a couple days ago, though, I know no one cares. But For those who pretend to here are some thoughts on my 5 years here. I find it interesting how my perspective of this website and internet communities has changed. I used to careless about the community and just cared about screwing around. Just making stupid jokes, stupid threads, and getting my self banned a lot. I realize in the last couple years I have actually started to connect and care about this community. Though I will admit, I still mainly make stupid threads and jokes.
But I have changed, I have worked on community projects, made helpful threads, and been like... a nice guy. It's weird, usually I always thought the point of the internet was to troll people. I've been thinking about what could have caused a change in me and I realized something. When you spend time on a website like this and start to make friends you start to feel... welcomed. You start to feel like you "belong" there, and when that happens you feel the need to help out. Now this website has gone through a lot of changes. Old people have left. and new people have come in. I personally perceive we are currently in a were puberty like state. Where a lot of people just feel weird and misfit, once things settle and familiar faces start to be more familiar things will change. People will feel connected, and they willl also feel the need to give back. Creating the great community that this place has been for years.
Of course I could be wrong, but these are just my thoughts. Personally I think the next 5 years on this site could be 10x more superior than the last 5. The community just has to... well mesh...
Anyways, Cheers to 5 years. Also, I know I rambled a bunch. That is just how my thinking process works.

BRIIIIIIIIIIIIIIICEHHH! I hope you're happy I came off my hiatus to be here.

Hopefully no birthday bashers have tried to muck up anything. I like this thread because that's how I see this place too, this is a place I can come to and find community.
-
Happy b-birthday!

Happy 5th, way to stick it out! I'm sure that it will settle out here again a bit after Destiny releases. Between the changes here on B.net to accommodate the new social systems built into Destiny, and the mobile app making the forums much more accessible at all times, there has been and will be a huge flux in the population. A lot of long time members have left due to the changes and more arrive every day in anticipation of Destiny. It will be interesting to watch for sure though. So hopefully cheers to 5 more years!

Nice one mate. I think youre right about the community evolving after destiny releases. I know I for one will probably spend more time in the destiny forum than all topics like I am at the moment. Anyway congrats on making 5 years.

I hope you're right, happy B B-day!

Edited by Cicero J Faraday: 2/12/2014 8:06:02 AMHappy Birthday, pal. I haven't really made friends around here, but I have definitely felt more connected to this community as I've gotten to know various people around here more. I think, in terms of really connecting with individuals, the best thing people can do is hope into a few groups. It's nice that people start to view this as more than just a forum after being here for a while. I certainly have.

As a fan of your wall of text I'll use the force and arrange a party to celebrate. It happens next New Years Eve. Keep up the good work.

Wait wait wait. You've irritated me way too many times for just five years. You sure it's only been five? :) The next five are gonna be way better. Happy Dayz Bropoo
