As you all know Destiny's release date was pushed from Spring '14 to this coming Fall. I for one don't mind this because it means a better overall game. And with this extra time it would be awesome if Bungie added a few cool wrinkles that could make this potentially great game even better.
One idea I thought of was if the Guardians could "high five" after a win. Something like this has never been done in any FPS, and in only a few RPGs. I played team sports in high school (now playing intramurals in college) and if there were one thing that adds remembrance and significance to a huge win it would be the high five... Lets say you’re storming an enemy base, the score is tied 49-49, you are with your buddy and you see an unsuspecting foe. Before he is able to run to cover you and your teammate use your team shot to destroy him -- winning the game, and helping you pave your way to PvP greatness..You hear, "Future War Clan wins" (or whatever faction you decided to fight for) you look to your companion: he was there for you all match, through the kill streaks, through the comeback kills, and most importantly for that infamous last takedown. In a perfect world an icon pops up, "hold X to high five" (square if you’re on PlayStation) you press the button and the two guardians high five, giving you one of the greatest nerd thrills you have ever felt. I think this would give the game great range and really emphasize FPSs' team aspects – something I believe Bungie is really interested in. (because comradery is what makes good games great, and great games playable for a long time) It doesn't have to be in just PvP, it could also be used in Story Mode and between raids in Bounty Mode. To clarify, I am suggesting that you must be right next to the player you’re high fiving, once you press/hold the button the other player can then accept the high five offer, and you can only high five 1-2 players after a match/raid. (Otherwise I think it will get too hectic) Also a reject option/button would add a cool aspect too. Lets say your team wins and you try to high five a teammate, he presses the reject button and his guardian shakes his head and waves his hand down as if to say "no thanks newb".. JEEZE WHAT A JERK!!! Bungie’s central theme seems to be customization, and it would be great if the physical interactions were not just customizable but interactive. Bungie could even make different types of player-to-player emotions, not just a high five, making them purchasable with in-game credits -- players could even be given credits when they accept/return emotion. We could no doubt think of some great emotions, and I have the utmost respect for Bungie and would never put anything past them. Now I know this is somewhat like the salute that we all saw at E3, but MORE physical guardian-to-guardian interactions, with an array of emotions and responses, could really put this game on another level!
I think it would be a great way to end matches and missions. If you think this is a good idea, or not-so-good, be sure to let your opinion be known in the reply section. And if you have any suggestions for emotions that you think would be cool -- share them! The more popular this thread gets the better the chance of a Bungie employee seeing it… I also would like to open it up for anyone to say what they think Bungie should add to the game; explain what it is you would like to see added, and why you think it will make the game better.
Cheers
