This isn't a thread to talk bad about Halo 4. I personally don't like the game, nor do I hate it. I'm just curious as to whether or not you think 343 feels embarrassed right now? The population is crazy low, the viewership for competitive Halo is laughable to the likes of CoD(with some of the worst CoD streamers having better view counts than most of the good Halo 4 players), and 343 even had another map pack planned but it got canned(my guess being because their isn't enough population for it to be worth it). Not to mention tons of pro gamers jumping ship to CoD(which I've never seen a large group of players make a push to a different game like this before).
It's a completely honest question.
Do you think 343 industries is embarrassed with what they put out with Halo 4's competitive multiplayer?
Do you think this will help 343 shape the future of Halo?
-
Embarrassed? No. Only they know what happened internally. Whatever happened too can obviously be fixed because Frankie is extremely confident about being able to put out a Halo game the community will like. Halo 4 was their first game They built it using an unfinished development team With no prior experience working together as a team With all those handicaps, they still managed to put out a great game and push out solid fixes faster than Bungie ever did. I think more than anything they're proud of what they made, upset they didn't please the community, but determined to make it different next time. Also, we can see the effects of 343i being a full development team now. The amount of Halo info we got in January was staggering, and I can tell they're kicking into full gear with the lore material. I can only assume they're doing the same for the people working on the next Halos.
-
It's almost as if they hired people that hated competitive Halo. Ohwait.
-
Why would they be embarrassed? The population is fantastic. Also, what map pack are you talking about?
-
Here's the real question though... Why should we care?
-
Never met a person with the name 343i.
-
They probably feel like a clothed person in a nudist colony.
-
Why would they? They've been nothing but fantastic so far!
-
Embarrassed? No. They shouldn't be either, really. For their first major game, it was done well. It just wasn't what people wanted from a Halo game.
-
I doubt anyone who could construct such a monstrosity is capable of feeling anything.
-
Nah. Halo 4 is a learning experience for 343, and was not bad by any means. I enjoyed my time with Halo 4 and will likely buy the next installment.

Edited by Green Twister: 2/7/2014 12:09:32 PMno but i feel embarrased of the community who act like a whiney kid. Not all of you but some are just -blam!-ing retarded. (incoming hate )
Do you think 343 industries is embarrassed with what they put out with Halo 4's competitive multiplayer?
If they're not they should be since it was trash.
Do you think this will help 343 shape the future of Halo?
The only thing I see is them making the game more casual to appeal to other audiences so if that's their vision for the future they're on the right track.

Personally I kinda like halo 4 I felt like I got more involved with the story
-
They planned another map pack? When was this?
-
Edited by A Metroid: 2/7/2014 4:45:19 PMHalo 4 Multiplayer was bad, but the massive bullet magnetism in Halo 2 was even worse from a developer standpoint. All Halo games except CE have large flaws.
-
I think perhaps they should re think their strat. Hiring people who hated halo for being an amazing arena shooter not bright. Second they spent millions on a movie instead of making their game perfect. They decided not to hold a beta, perhaps because they didnt want to hear what halo players had to say? Then to tell the community to trust us we know what we are doing? Then tell everyone the truth that they messed up say sorry and let us know you hired people who hated halo? What is wrong with you 343?
-
They know they need to change a lot and do better. I wouldn't say embarrassed, they had a lot to do, they made a pretty good job out of it.
-
I don't think they feel embarrassed, they had a lot on their plate in creating a brand new studio while creating a game with an established, rabid fan base. While they have admitted to dropping the ball on some aspects, they have a ton to be proud of as well. They have to become the best cover band in the world and while they don't sing every song perfectly, they still put on a decent show. They still need to come into their own as a band, but they are a newly formed band and will find their groove soon enough (I hope).
-
I would if I started saying "Halo's back" and then came out with this.
-
The only thing they have to be proud of is that sexy first level.
-
I'm kinda disregarding the OP, but oh well. I don't think they should feel embarrassed because they're a new studio. Its not like they can drop a triple-A title their first time around perfectly. I personally like 343i more than Bungie because they cater more to the community than Bungie ever did, but thats just me. IMO they seem muuuch more active with the community, which a game definitely needs, but they just need more experience working together and using all of their ideas and the community's to make a great Halo game.
-
They will take the mistakes that they may or may not have done and fix them in the next game
-
Edited by Grey101: 2/7/2014 4:19:22 PMYes because the temporary aspect of MP is the Golden Arrow of Halo. I literally cannot comprehend why people flock to that so Hastily. Once Halo 3 came out everyone stopped playing Halo 2 and Same for Halo 3 when Reach came out. You want MP to be so effing Fantastic but you'll only play it until the next game comes out or another. In which it's pretty much wasted effort.
-
I don't think they are embarrassed but they do realise that the direction they took their game, didn't sit well with their core fan base.
-
I think they are moderately embarrassed, I think they know fairly well that they did a lot of crap wrong with their first game....so let's hope they can pull their act together
-
I think some of you may be getting the wrong idea of my feelings. I'm not here to demoralize 343 in any way shape or form. I visit Waypoint all the time and I'm very much anticipating whatever the future may hold for Halo. I'm just curious of whether or not they feel embarrassed for the lack of population so early in it's life cycle. I'm curious to know if 343 is chomping at the bit to get their next title out to get people to possibly forget about Halo 4. They need something to reduce that heat.
