Republican Sen. Rand Paul accuses former President Bill Clinton of being a “serial philanderer.”
In an interview with “CBS This Morning” Wednesday, Paul followed-up on comments he made on NBC News’ “Meet the Press” Sunday where he stated that Clinton was a sexual predator and he took advantage of Monica Lewinsky while she was an intern at the White House.
“For all these people who stand up for Bill Clinton, say ‘He’s the greatest thing since sliced bread,’ he was a serial philanderer but he also is someone who took advantage of women in the workplace,” Paul told CBS News.
Paul feels it’s hypocritical of Democrats saying Republicans are waging a “war on women” when they support Clinton.
“It’s more of a question of the entire Democrat Party who says there’s a ‘war on women,’ and that somehow the other party is committing this and yet they support and defend a guy who really in the workplace was doing something that was inexcusable, and should not be tolerated,” Paul said. “There’s a question of hypocrisy.”
Paul called Clinton’s actions having an affair with Lewinsky at the White House “inexcusable.”
“Many of the Democrats today still defend him and think he is the greatest thing,” Paul said. “But he was a person who took advantage of a young girl in the workplace and I think that is inexcusable.”
Paul stated he didn’t know if the Lewinsky scandal would hurt former secretary of state Hillary Clinton if she decides to run for president in 2016.
“It’s hard to separate them,” Paul said. “It’s not her fault, she’s had to tolerate the same sort of problems from him over time.”
