[quote]An open letter to all Hitman fans
Dear Hitman fans,
We wanted to share this open letter with all of you out there eagerly awaiting more news about what’s happening next in the franchise.
At Io-Interactive right now, we are building the next AAA Hitman game for PC and next-gen consoles. It has our total focus and we wanted to take a moment to tell you a few things about it.
In the next game you will experience a globetrotting Agent 47 at the prime of his career – the apex predator stalking his prey across the world, with the support of his long-term handler Diana Burnwood and the whole of the ICA.
The game concentrates on the core Hitman fantasy of using a wide range of tools to take out a diverse group of targets across expansive, exotic locations around the world. We are building this game on the backbone of the Glacier 2 engine, using the best parts and what we have learnt through Hitman: Absolution and drawing inspiration from past titles like Contracts and Blood Money to fulfil the core Hitman fantasy. That means we’re packing in an extreme level of detail on the largest levels we have ever built for a Hitman game. We’ve adopted an open, non-linear level design approach to the game, ensuring the game will play out across huge, checkpoint-free, sandbox levels. Our aim is to create living, breathing and believable levels which will allow gamers to play around with the AI to create those unique moments every fan of the Hitman franchise loves.
Contracts Mode is back – you will be able to create and build challenges by experimenting with the large levels and possibilities within them. And of course, you can share them with the world and challenge your friends or foes to complete your hits. Your rules, your Contracts.
You will also be glad to hear that we have removed 47’s magic pockets. We believe that’s all we need to say about that subject.
As we get further into 2014, we will reveal more and get into much closer contact with all of you. There are so many things we have planned and we are extremely excited for the future of Hitman.
Thank you all for your dedication. We will share much, much more in the coming months.
The Io-Interactive Team

EDIT: MOAR NEWS!
[quote]Reveal, Reactions, Questions and Contracts
Last week, we shared an open letter with you about the future of Hitman and included a few details of what you can expect in the next Hitman game.
Shortly after pressing that big, blue ‘publish’ button, a huge wave of feedback, suggestions, ideas, questions and everything in between came at us and it was extremely exciting for us to finally share some details about what we’ve been working on. At the end of the week, all of us in the studio were pouring over your feedback and it was fantastic to see that so many of you had something to say about what we’d shared. Thank you for all of it. This is exactly what we wanted and what we’ll be looking for as we continue to work on this new project with you.
It has certainly kick-started our new year and there is a real buzz around the studio as we go about crafting the game. All of the supportive messages sent our way reinforced the belief we have in the project and any doubt serves as a challenge. We know that skilfully combining all the aspects of the game together is the difficult part and proving it with great gameplay is the true test. We have 100% confidence that we can make that happen and we’re working towards it every day. We’re looking forward to more feedback when the time comes around for us to show our first gameplay to you. That’s a little way in the future though.
Questions
We want to stay on point by answering a couple of common questions that we received over the last 7 days. See the bottom of this post for how you can send us your own questions.
1. When is the game released?
- One of the most obvious questions but also one of the most important. The bad news is that we don’t have a specific date locked down just yet. The good news is that as soon as it is locked, we’ll let you know.
2. What is the name of the game?
- We don’t have an answer to this just yet, but we’re pretty close to finalising it.
3. Will the game be out on Wii U / PS3 / Xbox 360?
- Right now, our focus is only on PC and new generation consoles. We’ll let you know if anything changes.
There were also a lot of questions about specific aspects of gameplay such as disguises, instinct and weapons. We didn’t cover every single aspect of the game in the open letter so there’s plenty more to come on the specific stuff. We’re even planning to have some special blog posts later in the year with input from IOI developers. They’re in the best position to explain some of the updated mechanics and new features that we’re working on, so look out for those!
Contracts
Hitman: Contracts finally made it to Steam just a few days ago. It’s been a long time coming but you can now enjoy the game in all its original, 2004 glory. Now you’ll never be more than a few clicks away from The Meat King’s Party. Lucky you!
With the addition of Contracts, every game from the Hitman franchise is now available through Steam. If you’re quick, there’s an 80% off deal on all games, except for Contracts, running for the next few hours.
Get in touch
If you follow the studio on Twitter, you may have noticed we describe ourselves as ‘complicated but lovable’, a fair description we think. If you disagree, or have anything else you want to ask or discuss with us, there are a few places you can do that. If you want to just get updates without talking to us, that’s fine too!
We’ve regularly got eyes on our official forums, post updates to the Hitman Facebook page 2-3 times a week and update the Hitman Instagram account whenever we find something worthy. If you want a quick response, you can find the studio via @IOInteractive or the game via @Hitman.
Stay tuned,
