RANKIN COUNTY - PEARL -
It's called the "Knockout Game", and it's when someone attacks an unsuspecting random person with the goal of knocking out that person.
A woman says it happened to her Thursday inside the Pearl Walmart.
"I just felt something on the back of my head and went forward," the Pearl woman tells us. "Turned around, and I looked. I saw the boy running."
The woman, who doesn't want to be identified, says she's afraid to even shop alone now after she says a teenager attacked her for no reason. She believes the assault was a version of the "Knockout Game."
"To me, it's not a game, because it can cost somebody their life," she says.
The "game" is when someone walks up to a person and hits them, hoping for a knock out. That's exactly what this woman says happened to her, but she says her teenaged attacker didn't use his fist.
"It was a 10 pound weight that he hit me on the head with," she explains.
Pearl Police confirm the attack and say the 13-year-old boy gave no reason as to why he did it.
"They said they found him in the deli with his mom shopping," the attack victim tells us. And she offers this: "Violence is never the answer. To hurt someone just to do it is not funny, and its not a game."
Pearl Police tell us the case has been turned over to youth court.
