I don't like having a huge collection of media
When I say media, I mean video games, movies, anime, and manga. I just gave my friend all my copies of Naruto (volumes 1-57) and Bleach (volumes 1-24), and a bunch of anime and video games I had that I don't play anymore. I absolutely hate having a huge collection of media. I don't really have much friends, but I feel that the friends I do have or the ones I will make in the future will see my huge collection and think "Wow, this guy has too much free time on his hands". So I decide to cut my collections so I don't have as much.
EDIT: Also I didn't get rid of the games JUST because I was worried about that, I also gave them away cause I don't bother with them anymore. What's the point in keeping an anime I only watched once five to six years ago? Or keeping a game that I played once and no longer enjoy? The manga I had I never read after the first three hours after I bought it so why still keep it?
I think I'm just being paranoid though, what about you guys?

i only buy the media i really love. except for books. i buy books indiscriminately then donate them to the library if i dont want to keep them.

1 ReplyCollecting media is why I have bookshelves and a home server. If there's something that I like or appreciate, I want to be able to enjoy it (again) anytime that I choose to.

No. My friends see having a lot of games and stuff as a respect thing, as a "Woah, you're well lucky".

Nope. I have a massive collection of games, movies, swag from games and movies etc etc. Most of it out on display in the mancave. Don't give two -blam!-s if anybody can see it or not. Most of the time people come over and want to dick around with it anyway.

I do kind of hate having a lot of videogames to play because there are just too many options sometimes and then I'm playing the games I love the most less of the time.

2 RepliesI can understand where you are coming from, but one of my friends has the largest collection of Doctor Who stuff you could imagine and we don't think anything of it. It's a little odd, but it just shows he loves the series. You don't have to have them on open display if you have new visitors but there is no need to get rid of stuff you love collecting for the sake of social appearances. Unless it's MLP dolls... then you should hide/burn them immediately.
