Essentially websites such as YouTube remain free because, in exchange for allowing you to watch videos, you spend a small amount of your time watching adverts.
If you use AdBlocker then essentially you are using the service without paying for it (paying with your time). You are stealing.

I don't care if there are ads, so yeahhhhhhhh......
-
How about this instead: I'll keep AdBlock installed and I'll do what I would normally do if didn't have AdBlock and had to watch an ad. Ignore said ad, flip the bird at my screen, and masturbate furiously for the minute or two said ad would play. They play that ad because they want me to buy their shit. Thing is, I will never buy their shit. Hell, I don't even pay attention to it. For all intents and purposes, that ad didn't play because there is no difference between me sitting and watching an ad play and me sitting and staring at my computer screen blankly for a short period of time. But no. Mega-Conglomo-Corp gets all butt flustered because a computer program is actually telling them I'm giving them the double bird while jerking my crotch in their direction. They can -blam!- right the hell off. Even if they succeed in getting AdBlock banned and forcing everyone to watch their shitty ads know what I'll do instead? Mute my computer, open new tab, browse for about three minutes before going back to the video and resuming it from the beginning again.

I only use it since the recent YT updates, and I will stop using it once that discontinues.

For some reason my adblocker stopped working. Any advice?

Love my ad blocker. Not my fault it was invented

I don't care

Am I stealing if I change the channel during commercials?
-
I disagree with Ad Block and don't use it. If a site has Ads I don't want to deal with, I don't use that site.
-
Maybe if ads weren't so intrusive, people wouldn't block them. Problem is not with consumers, the problem is the advertisers. Also, you should sit in on the local middle school and learn the definition of stealing. Obviously you have missed that lesson.

Lol some writer for Gawker I think, actually said this shit.

Its not against the law to use AdBlock. Logic > your argument
-
I am master internet thief and I didn't even know.
-
You just told everyone how bad adblocker is. When what you actually did was cause more people to find out about adblocker. LOL
-
Maybe if ads weren't pop-up viruses, people wouldn't block them?

Cry me a river pls. Well actually don't, England is already flooded enough. I put up with Banner ads, I put up with pop-ups (Even the obscene ones) simply because they were rare. Then when Youtube added that stupid irritating bar I put up with it, 2 Minute Unskippables? Now you are pushing it. Hiding f-cking go compare and cilit bang adverts in the recommended video feed that trigger midway through what I'm watching? Get bent. Then making those GoogleAds things link to virus sites? Ok, you can -blam!- off. I'm done with this shit. -Adblock installed- Ah, now isn't this a lot nicer :D Am I stealing? Lol, yes It's daylight robbery that I don't get viagra and 4x4 adverts raeping my computer monitor 24/7. Will I repent for my evil ways? Nope. If advertising companies stop acting like shitheads? (See - never) I'll think about it.

Why do we need to have this discussion 5 times a month? I use ads on sites where I specifically want the creators to get money. If it's something like MSPA, Cracked, or TGWTG, then I disable the ads because websites like that produce free content and would have a difficult time if they didn't collect ad revenue. I also disable it if I'm watching specific Youtubers that I follow (mostly LPers that don't have manby other means of income.) If I like a website enough to frequently return to it, I make sure that the website gets its money. I probably wouldn't use Adblock at all if internet ads weren't so -blam!-ing terrible. A billboard for Picadilly or Nike on a highway is fine, but constantly having to look at "ROMAN ORGY ROMAN ORGY ILLEGAL IN 17 COUNTRIES LOOT THE BOOTY" might actually somehow trigger some kind of odd feeling of mild disgust and annoyance after a while. That's not even bringing up how often grandma's computer starts acting up a few days after she clicks the big "DOWNLOAD NOW" button at the top of the webpage.

I don't understand why most of their ads are like car ads.. Its not like people say after watching it "You know what I feel like doing today? Buying a car."
-
Pop up ads are so fun, aren't they?

Edited by TeeHee: 1/12/2014 10:31:01 PMIt's my computer, I choose what goes on it. If a site wants to deny my access to their content because I refuse to view their ads, that is their choice. [/Recon]
